Tiberius Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I would add any/all of the Kaleidoscope cuts on TSOP but especially I Wanna Live For You.
Popular Post dean jj Posted February 11, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2015 Modern Soul is a term created by the northern soul community to describe records that, by date or design, do not fit into the classic northern format but are/were played on the UK rare soul scene. Away from northern, the term is so vague as to be meaningless, unless you just literally mean new releases. 'Modern Soul' only means something in a northern soul context. Other black music fans would probably be bewildered at something from 1972 being called modern. dean [i've just had a flashback: hasn't this sort of debate been on site before?] 4
Sjclement Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Just had a re-read of this many tracks I've added to my collection during the last few (7) years Ain't seen Connie Laverne on GSF yet though? An' LLoyd Prices LP only version of You Bought It on Yourself.

dean jj Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 No crossover is something else: midtempo 60/70's records that didn't recieve northern soul exposure [or very little] when first discovered being considered to slow 'n' subtle. Modern soul on the other [see my previous post on this thread] did. I'm now going to lie in a darkened room...or go to work...one or the other. dean 1
Smudger Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 There are so many but these two are always getting plays in this record room Yolanda Adams open my heart Silks mix Curtis Mayfield Freddies dead remix
Westender Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Gawd Smudger! I rate Yolanda Adams but I'm really not sure of that remix. This is contemporary Gospel but, for me, shows Yolanda in a better light.
Roger Williams Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 This will always be Yolanda Adams' finest moment for me personally. 1
Roger Williams Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Could go big as well (as they say) plus it's on 7 inch vinyl, quality remix. Edited February 12, 2015 by Roger Williams
Roger Williams Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 And this (though not vinyl, not yet anyway): 2
Jordirip Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Could go big as well (as they say) plus it's on 7 inch vinyl, quality remix. Has this been pitched down to -8?
21 Again Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Tom Glide love this tune, hope it comes out on a seven
ockers Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Big soulful dance @ lytham tune i heard back in about 2006 1
Roger Williams Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Has this been pitched down to -8? No idea mate, it's simply a Barry White / Unlimited Gold pastiche which I think personally works very well. I had fun doing the label though, I have to say, I love stuff like that.
stewmac Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Neo smile better on the 12 than that remix IMHO

Alan T Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Big soulful dance @ lytham tune i heard back in about 2006 My favourite version of that is the Steve Silk Hurley mix. I think this is the same version as the 12" i have but sounds like it's pitched up a bit. 1
Guest Soulfulhammer Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Whole Lotta You In Me - Brotherly Love
Westender Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Like Donnie Ray, good singer I think.......just wish the productions values were a bit higher. This is a nice track but real horns could have lifted it up a gear or two. 1
