Guest Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 (edited) Whilst doing another spot of decorating this week at Chez Burton , and whilst weilding the brush , the radiogram was on , playing a CD of Casino related sounds ..... One of the featured tracks was " He'll Never Love You ( Like I Do ) " - Charlie Gracie .... I doubt if it gets plays , or if it will get plays again , but it was a side that was so typical of the time , and whilst it was playing , I sang along - much to the chagrin of my youngest son ..... I should not like the record ; but I do ..... What record do you have a " soft spot " for ? Malc Burton Edited August 30, 2007 by Malc Burton

I still love Joey Di Lorenzo - Wake up to the sunshine girl. and David & the Giants - Ten Miles high
Ged Parker Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 "Should not like" says who? I don't feel guilty about liking anything even some over played oldies. I just wish some of the were given a rest doesn't stop me liking them. By your premise are there also records its bad form not to like I wonder?
Nickinstoke Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 My wife invariably catches me at it if I have a crafty spin of "Condition red" - you should see the look on her face

Godzilla Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 (edited) love these,.. enter sunshine-georgie porgie Blimey - I thought I was the only person in the world who remembered this Like a lot of these tunes though, Enter Sunshine is a great record in it's own right - it was never intended to be played in the middle of the night at smelly old soul venues in the UK. Great Trade Martin production too if I remember correctly. Godz Edited August 31, 2007 by Godzilla

Pauldonnelly Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I once danced to "Chase side shoot up" by Brian Bennet earrly days Wigan only to hear it as the intro music for BBC golf the following week. In my defence after 20 script decs I would have dance to The Witch Queen of new orleans...happy days
Paul R Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 (edited) I once danced to "Chase side shoot up" by Brian Bennet earrly days Wigan only to hear it as the intro music for BBC golf the following week. In my defence after 20 script decs I would have dance to The Witch Queen of new orleans...happy days I don't ever remember it as a Wigan track, but for the same reason you stated, I don't remember some complete nights. I've just googled it & yes, I know it from the golf, but it is quite reminiscent of "California Montage" (which I do think is muzak!) IMHO. As for I shouldn't like it but..... When I play the "original" fake "Footsie", live with the hand claps from t'casino. Such memories!. As for "Witch Queen Of New Orleans", I'm sure I read somewhere recently, that Redbone were the musicians on Joe Hicks "Don't It Make You Feel Funky". Or did I dream it? I just wish some of the were given a rest doesn't stop me liking them. By your premise are there also records its bad form not to like I wonder? I think because some when you hear some of these records now, the vocals or the production/arrangement isn't quite spot on but it's the memories linked with them that still make them special and they can stir up really strong emotions. I feel overwhelmed with happiness sometimes when I hear "Waterfall" and I know it's not because it is such a fantastically produced sound. It's something else for me. Once again it is only personal opinions. Another one is "Moonlight Music and Me" what memories that brings back!
