Guest Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 We are seriously considering turning our 12 page fortnightly vinyl sales mailshot into a 50 page monthly vinyl mailshot with articles as well as sales. Any budding "soul reporters" out there wanting to cover any aspect of collecting rare soul vinyl, artists, labels, record finds, anything interesting. We thought maybe 6 to 10 articles in amoungst records sales. Would be far more interesting than a 12 page listing of sales. Your thoughts on this would be most welcome, and anyone wishing to break some ground writing, providing scans, photo's views secure a regular slot in a monthly mag/mailshot rather than what we do now. The new proposed venture will of course be printed by professionals not me. PM me if you want to do something: John

Guest Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 (edited) Hi Manny; I already spend hours on the Throne digesting your lists,50 pages.............good job we have two of them. Gouch We've so far got three contributors on board, Gouch you've got plenty of time on your hands, love to have you do a regular piece. We are looking for maybe 8 or 10 reliable and regular "Soul reports". The catalogue is planned to be monthly and at least 48 pages.. If you've got a story to tell please let us know. Themes we're looking for are articles on: Labels, Producers, Artists, Record buying trip stories, Venues history, DJs Top Ten's or Twenty's, record reviews, records from different countries ie: it would be good to cover the Australian releases with scans, also get a review of The Scandanavian scene or the Spanish scene or where ever. French EP page..etc etc. covering all aspect of soul collecting: We figure on at least 12 - 15 pages of editorial with the rest made up with rare record listings. It's an idea we would like to do, I think it may work better than a boring mailshot. I shall certainly do a page of serious obscurities, myself. Mark Bicknall, Rob Moss, Steve Plumb, Tony Rounce, Steve Guarnori, Neil Rushton, Ian Wright or anyone, if you've got the time and can produce an interesting A4 page, is all we need.. and yes of course we don't expect you to do it for nothing! I'd like to get it in place for list 1002 PM me if your interested. John Edited September 1, 2007 by john manship
