Hey guys,

Does anyone know how much this sells for:

Turnarounds

Can't Take No More

Minit

I can't seem to find a copy, JM's 2nd edition says £40. Is that about right?

Any other info would be great.

Thanks,

Rich.

Just sold one for £30. They are around. Best to watch out for a vinyl copy, was issued on both vinyl and styrene. Great tune, just a bit slow, needs pitching up a tad.

Best, Phil.

Great record. Also it's worth looking out for the Turn Arounds double header on Era 'Ain't Nothin Shakin/Run Away and Hide'. Assume it's the same band - according to messrs Beckman, Hunt and Kline, it is anyway

I know they are listed separately in the group soul book, but all the turnarounds (minit, era, and deville) are the same group. At least some of the records are a duo of Jewel Akens and another singer, I can't remember who right now, but there might be more members on some of the other 45s. There was a publicity photo on ebay a few times of just the duo, I think it said minit records, but both members names are on the deville 45s too. I think they also have a record on a 4th label that I can't remember right now.

The main singers were Terry Evans and Jimmy Russell. Jewel and Tommy Turner and even Joe Cato came and left the groups over time. They were originally Terry & The Tyrants who cut 4 sides for Kent, two of which came out. I ramble on about them in some of the sleevenotes and will do a fuller piece when we put out the Era stuff now that we've bought the label. I'd like to see that publicity photo though.

Are these the Turnarounds on Tangerine?

Now that someone else mentioned tangerine, the photo was a Tangerine publicity photo and not a minit one. I will try to email the seller to see if he has more (he listed it at least twice).

The deville 45 I have says on it:

The Turnarounds

(Jewel Akens and Terry Evans)

I'm pretty sure the tangerine photo came with a promo sheet, and in the auction you could also read that the sheet said Jewel Akens and Terry Evans.

I never knew about the Terry and the Tyrants connection. Thanks.

I'd say £40 is a fair and just price - but it can be picked up for less.

I have a styrene copy - just sold a vinyl copy to JT for £40 - gr8 track :thumbup::thumbup:
