Guest Simon Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Ok, here we have a phenomonal band who have made some seriously soulful stuff, i like pretty much everything they've done including the B-sides but if you had to cchoose yer fave what would it be? I'm gonna settle for 'Why girl'! Amazing intro, superb lyrics, great dancer! What's yours? Simon

Simongreat choice simon,i go for "such misery" which to me still sounds great after all these years also "if this is love" a great tune and it only sells for about a tenner on drew plus i think it was issued in the uk on a track 45...soulie55...

KevH Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 in this order DREAM GIRL [WILL GET REGOGNITION ONE DAY] SUGAR AINT SWEET [GREAT TRACK] NEVER LET HER GO [POSSIBLY THEIR GREATEST SLOWIE] BAZ A DREAM GIRL FOR ME TOO!!
22ndsoul Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I think that (Send me a sign) would be my choice as best track.
macca Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 think we had a debate a while back on the merits of such misery vs woman lover thief, didn't we? I love both versions. incidentally, is the drew original of SM rare these days?
Baz Atkinson Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 ARE WE ALL ON THE SAME PRECISIONS HERE? 5 OR WAS IT SIX DIFFERENT GROUPS,PHILLY,NEW YORK,BOSTON,DETROIT ETC. BAZ A
Craig W Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 DREAM GIRL FOR ME TOO!! Dont forget the great flip to this "Instant heartbreak (just add tears)" Great double sider and really cheap too.
Platters 81 Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 ive got an acetate of "instant heartbreak" which is a good 5rpm slower than the released version (dream girl is the same as released)..i wonder if thats how it was recorded....and it was speeded up for the Drew issue......
Phild Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 What I Want. Without a doubt their best tune period! Phil
macca Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 just stick the precisions in the site search engine & they'll all (most) come up mate. M
Sunnysoul Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Great Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams produced dancer "New York City" on Atco , must have been recorded by the Precisions 'bout 68 or 69 after the Drew label folded.

Guest Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 What Would You Do on Wild. Loll Surely not the "same" Precisions. This group on Wild were a Boston band, f I remember correc tly.
Steve G Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Surely not the "same" Precisions. This group on Wild were a Boston band, f I remember correc tly. Different group entirely. For me it's between "If this is love" for it's sheer energy and "Such Misery". "Sugar ain't sweet" just doesn't do it for me.
Guest markus gora Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) What Would You Do on Wild. Loll great tune... Edited August 28, 2007 by markus gora
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 ..."Such Misery". Such brilliance.... I don't know if the Atco lot is the same Precisions but if they are, I also really like an unissued track from their Atco session, "I Kissed Her Face" (also recorded by its composer, Swamp Dogg...) and not just because it's unissued and therefore unknown to most people. It's a ballad, BTW...
Chalky Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Most of the Detroit Precisions is top notch, especially What I want!! Of the other Precisions the group on Hen Mar - My Sense Of Direction is fantastic!!!!

Guest vinylvixen Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 ..."Such Misery". Such brilliance.... I'm with Tone....'Such Misery' is jaw dropping soul - still brings me out in goosebumps Jo
Guest vinylvixen Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 What I Want. Without a doubt their best tune period! Phil Damn, I've just agreed with Tone on 'Such Misery' but this would come a hairs-breadth second...Jo
