Guest Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Time will pass you by Great record, and bootlegged before I got into northern, but never seems to be identified with any particular club. Is anyone credited with 'discovering' it? Where (and when) was it first played? Was it covered up at all? Thanks for any info.
Paul R Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I remember RW trying to break it in about mid 74 and he had originals for sale at £12 in his shop. But I believe as usual Levine originally played it.

Scallybob Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Not as much as the £50 I got for it in 1976.
Guest Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Don't think there's any Mala boots. I think the Eric boots were from about 1977 (?)

I think the Eric boots were from about 1977 (?) link Not sure on the who played it first debate, but I attended the Casino from 73 onwards and RW was playing it way before it became one of the 3 before 8 and I think I first dance to and adored it in early '74. Collectors here will be able to give the hierarchy of who when etc,
Pete S Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Definitely Russ, early 1974. Brave choice for those times.

Guest Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Thanks for that. So, this is what I've gleaned... 74 - Russ tries to break it (maybe at same time as Levine) and tries to flog copies for £12 75 - Soul Bowl have (the more common) demo's for £4 76 - Scallybob gets £50 for a copy (nice one) 77 - it becomes popular enough to get bootlegged on Eric and a lot of people bought emidiscs. Okay, thanks for that, people. I was hoping it would be a bit more interesting, but you can't have everything.

See, it did get more interesting
