Posted February 14, 200520 yr This is a real long shot. I only ever heard this at cleethorpes. Ok goes like this Ding ding ding,,,,,,,,ding ding, ding, ding ding ding ding. and repeat. A fast stomping instrumental with a distinct guitar opening. Sorry that all I got. For years I thought it was soul step by the dogs until I heard that tune off a CD and its not the same record. Think think think. Ed

February 14, 200520 yr Author You see the problem was that the first wintergarden nighters had the DJs just through the door and you could go up and see the disc. Then they moved it up to the stage at the back and made it impossible to see what was being played. I blame the DJs. Probably covered up anyway. Ding ding ding. Ed

February 15, 200520 yr Is It "With This Ring" By The Belles on Bell(with a Bellsound stamp) or does the Quasimodo Band ring any bells?
February 15, 200520 yr Author Look, there was no dongs only dings. No rings only dings. Some dings were faster than other dings, musically speaking. Anyway its about 28 years ago since I last heard it, but the dings still dinging. Come on you ding lovers whats the dinginging title/artist/label/value.
February 15, 200520 yr Just realised I was talkin shit so I removed the post I never read the "Instrumental" bit Hence the Eptones was a wrong spy. Stoopid c**t the Gasher Edited February 15, 200520 yr by gash99

February 15, 200520 yr Author No Nope, none of them. Falbala - Jesus. More like a very basic Champion with a driving beat from the lead guitar. Played at the same time as stuff like broadway sissy, similar speed in terms of dancing. Ding ding ding intro like a harder version of the intro to 'Your love makes me Lonely'. Now I cant stop twanging my imaginary guitar string. Ed
February 15, 200520 yr Author Not sure, but the dancefloor used to fill up. Then again it did for Black Soul Music. Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Black Soul. Im sticking to Ding ding ding. Forget Na Na Na. Ed
February 15, 200520 yr ........................MUSIC MINUS TWO ON BOBALOU ? Right era and venue - could conceivably meet the "ding" criteria; not so sure about the "fast" bit !
February 15, 200520 yr Isnt giving an instrumental a title, a bit like getting a blind man to buy a carpet that matches his curtains?? 'kin pointless.

February 15, 200520 yr A few more guitar dominated insts: Joey Dee - How Can I Forget - Caneil 5 Of A Kind - The Other Side - Sidra Centuries - Jack 23 - Cleopatra (I think this is the only one really associated with Cleethorpes) Any of these dingie enough for ya, Ed? Godz

February 16, 200520 yr I know you said instrumental, but last night listening to a load of mp3s on came The Jewels, We got Togetherness. More boing, Boing than Ding Ding, but with a forgetable vocal and a few guitar things going on, could this be the mysterious sound?
February 16, 200520 yr Author Thanks for all your help, but none of the suggestions jump out. I guess I will have to go to a revival night over there and quiz the Old Jocks. I am guessing it was a Poke spin, and probably covered up or an acetate, as its never come out on the 100 or so CDs I have aquired. I am not sure my vocal interpretation of the tune will be any more use than the ding ding ding written down. Is that Leaking Boot chippy still open up the road? Ed

February 16, 200520 yr Author Well What a splendid offer. If you email me your address at edyc1@aol.com, I will post a tape of some of my 'slightly obscure' tunes in return for a tape of your 'slightly obscure' tunes including instrumentals. Sorted. (Always wondered what tape swoppers were!!)

February 18, 200520 yr Author Now that does ring a bell, or pluck a string in this case. Was it uncovered? Ed
May 12, 201213 yr It's seven years later now and I have been searching the last few weeks for the title of a song that also starts with ring ding ding and a fast stomping instrumental with a distinct guitar opening. By reading these posts I kept on searching and I found the song I was looking for. Maybe you've found yours seven years ago but I wonder if it was the same song... Michel Legrand - Di-gue Ding Ding
This is a real long shot. I only ever heard this at cleethorpes.
Ok goes like this
Ding ding ding,,,,,,,,ding ding, ding, ding ding ding ding. and repeat.
A fast stomping instrumental with a distinct guitar opening.
