Tubbs Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Just got a Mary Moultrie King acetate today. Just wondered if anyone else has an acetate of anything on King as I'm not quite sure if it's real or not. it has plain white labels both sides with a small piece of paper glued on with the title and artist on one side only. Any ideas ? Thanx Tubbs

His is more officious looking, with properly printed test pressing type labels with typwriter typed text explaining title and artist, etc. Hope this helps, although I'm certain there are all kinds of different styles to King acetates. My description is just one of them I'll bet.

As we speak in fact. Saw Steve at Lowton last month. I had to admit to remembering his face but not his name and from whence he came. Embarrased, so I was. But, he was very gracious about it, as always. I asked Steve to pass on my regards to you and everybody else in aberdeen that I know. PM me your email address again. Oh, God forbid, you never know, you might see me up in Aberdeen again, if my attempt to return to Norway falls flat on it's face. Has Jim still got his shop / club open / running? I'll see if I can get my mate to send a scan of his acetate for you.

Any ideas ? Thanx Tubbs I may well have seen more King acetates, via work, than any other living being. Although they did have a specially-designed acetate label, with a 'proper' logo, in the 60s, I've seen plenty that don't use this label, too, and do just have a plain white label or the label of the studio that the actetate was cut at. If you can put it up here I might be able to compare it to others that I've seen and give you the answer you're looking for...
