Denbo Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 This is going to be fun. I've never tried posting image attachments to my postings before and I've just used a host site to make my photographs a suitable size for posting on this site. So, here goes. https://img525.imageshack.us/img525/6140/cimg4917dx0.jpg https://img516.imageshack.us/img516/8760/cimg4915rp4.jpg Sorry for the quality of the images, that's me and my shakey hands whilst taking the snapshots. Anyhow, can somebody please explain to me why the different label designs?
Supercorsa Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Denbo, I asked a similar question last year. If you click >>here<< you'll find the topic on it, hope it's some help to you.
Denbo Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 Denbo, I asked a similar question last year. If you click >>here<< you'll find the topic on it, hope it's some help to you. Thanks. Found the label scans off Dave Flemming of particular interest. The maroon scan I posted is different again to those he has posted. Strange? That last one of his on yellow Carla from 1973 looks contrived. Have a close look at the letters making up the word Carla. Looks like a cut and paste jobbie.
Supercorsa Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I've got Ooh Baby on the maroon label, I'm sure it's a west coast press. Or at least that what it said on the card cover when I bought it. But if you read the topic John May mentions the maroon releases as well, pretty sure they are all genuine anyway.
Simon T Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Thanks. Found the label scans off Dave Flemming of particular interest. The maroon scan I posted is different again to those he has posted. Strange? Perhaps the change in label design was brought about by some change in the company structure / ownership? Looks like ATCO Record Sounds Company turned into ATCO Records from the addresses on the different labels: Distributed by ATCO Record Sounds Co 1841 B’Way N.Y. N.Y Distributed by ATCO Records 1841 Broadway New.York. N.Y That last one of his on yellow Carla from 1973 looks contrived. Have a close look at the letters making up the word Carla. Looks like a cut and paste jobbie. Carla was owned by Ollie McLaughlin, named after one of his daughters. Perhaps he revived it for that yellow 1973 release which he was the produer of?

Sorry, no I didn't read the posting by John May, or if I did, I don't remember reading about the maroon label designs being west coast. But thanks for the update. Having said that, my maroon label design is slightly different to that one shown on Dave Flemming's posting. But I mentioned that already didn't I? It's this damned cold, can't think straight.
