Sebastian
does anyone collect this sort of thing? I'm sure there are some collectors of these "hip pocket" discs, but there doesn't seem to be any "real money" in it unless you've got something by the major collectable artists like Beatles (plus Apple Records and related), Jimi Hendrix, Abba, Doors, Madonna etc. Link to comment Social source share
Dave Moore
Hi Paul, I collect the soul variants of these 'discs". You need a hip pocket player to actually play them. Atlantic and Chess are the main players as far as soul ones are concerned. Not particuarly expensive but a nice sideline and something to pick up at record shows when the pickings are sparse, whis is more often the case nowadays. Dave Moore
I play mine on normal Technics decks...I didn't know you shouldn't! Hi Karen, The records were originally manufactured/designed to be played on a specific small turntable produced by Hip Pocket. It was a sort of marketing ploy. You can play them on standard turntables but sometimes the return mechanism kicks in and the tonearm returns to the rest position. Shouldn't be drama on the Technics as you point out. I've never owned a Hip Pocket Player but would be interested in one if anyone has one for sale.
