Well I'm not. And I certainly don't agree with the way IL launched into folks the way he did on the radio show. But then again I believe in turning the other cheek. But that's because I'm actually a disciple of a different jewish bloke - one who was crucified 2000 years ago and whose entry into m y life changed everything for me. Whether Levine's album has the right to be called northern soul will be proven if it gets played and accepted at northern events.. pretty doubtful IMHO. Prefer Messrs Searling and Bicknell on the radio to be honest Just in case anybody doesn't know, Ian Levines nickname in the mid Seventies was ENA after the Coronation St character Ena Sharples. Some of the factual information about "names & places" he mentioned was interesting. Unfortunatly the usual.... I discovered northern soul / Kiosk in Blackpool .....etc scenerio was inevitable I suppose. No one person is bigger than the "Scene", and I dont think Ian Levine has embraced that fact yet. I think whoever has sent these emails should be named and their content exposed. If they habve used SS PM facilities then possibly banned from the site for abuse. Mods ? This is supposed to be a forum for discussion and debate isn't it? Northern Soul is and always has been a very broad church, and as such will lead to conflict of opinion from time to time, but when it disintegrates to abusive or nasty personal messages and emails then that's taking things waaayyy too far. I have never played a tune for the sake of it either when DJ'ing out at the venues or on the show, I would like to think that I have some integrity musically and always have to be honest and true to myself...what happened to free speach and opinion anyway? I replied to this Email in a professional and polite manner and passed on copies to others it concerned which is no one connected directly with SS. Soul Source is supposed to be a site about soul music, where soul fans can post their view on all soul related matters without looking over their shoulder Does seem there are some f*****s who can't accept this and are tryng to censor/controls members views on here All for a easy life me, but have to say that am taking these attempts to influnce what is posted on here as deliberate attempts to damage what we have got going on here ...
