Richard Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 (edited) Anthony White - Hey Baby & Never Let You Get Away From Me on PIR Anyone got any idea which is the rarer of the two on issue? Also Hey Baby had a demo but Never Let You Get Away From Me wasn't on the flip of the demo of Never Repay Your Love. But having said that I know Never Let You Get Away From Me was on the LP but was a minute shorter than the single version. Have seen a few Hey Babys both demos and issues for sale over recent months but only one Never Let You Get Away From Me ta Edited August 3, 2007 by richard

He might have some idea!

Guest Black Gold of the Sun Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I've got both on issue but have not seen anything like as many "Nevers" as I have "Hey babys". The demo of Hey Baby just went for $300 on E bay

Nocker Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 The LP with Hey baby, is a Epic/CBS/Philly promo comp with the another ex modern/northern biggie form the 80ts "All I want is my baby", just can't think of the girl artist who sang it, the other tracks are disco types. I must dig it out and check. Cheers

Steve G Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 never let you get away.deffo harder. The trouble with this track is it's too short both on the LP and 45. I have an acetate of it that runs to nearly 5 mins with Anthony ad libbing, roaring and screaming his way through the last two minutes......sadly most of you won't have heard it, cos it's a real treat. Dunno what they were doing cutting him off in his prime like that

Dunno what they were doing cutting him off in his prime like that are you sure about this? sounds just like the version on my issue 45..can't recall it from the top off my head, but I'm pretty sure it's longer than 4 minutes.. will have to check later tonight at home.. best, Stefan

Guest stromberg Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Please do it's 4.35...surely must be the same version on all issue copies, no? flip is never repay your love
Steve G Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 it's 4.35...surely must be the same version on all issue copies, no? flip is never repay your love D'oh, now I am going to have to dig out the acetate to see how long it is - I know it's longer than the 45.
Richard Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 The single is definetly longer than the album with Anthony ad libbing through the last minute
Ernie Andrews Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 As my mate Sepia said I just got rid of mine to Barry Waddington who had it on his site. Seen a few more copies of- Yes your in love- recently yet thats supposed to be the rarest out of them all. Never gonna get away from me is IMO sheer class! What does anyone think its worth them?
Guest Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 "Never Gonna Get Away From Me" is a great philly-soul uptempo, with the exciting "Harris Machine" trade mark at the intro and Anthony's deep voice at his best. I only have this title and three others (the beautiful soulful ballad "Never Repay Your Love", "Stop & Think This Over" and some other) in teh 14 albums set box "The Philadelphia Story" (UK, Street Sounds). Also afriend of mine recorded for me a domestical cassette with Otis Redding's cover of "I Can't Turn You Loose" by Anthony White on Salsoul. I hope someday can find the "It Could Be Magic" album and wonder about unissued PIR stuff (I read that he was working in a second LP for PIR before leave the label)
Richard Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 Here is the single version, is it any different to the acetate??
