Gene-r
There are a couple of soul instrumental B-sides from the '60s which sound like early incarnations of dub (ie, where the instrumental track has been distorted to the point of sound effects, echo, reverb etc). They are: The Earthmen: Space Mood (instrumental B-side of "Walkin' By" - Boss Four) Rex Garvin & The Mighty Cravens: Sock It To 'Em JB, Part Two They sound absolutely brilliant at full blast on a powerful set of headphones! Does anyone know of any other soul/dub instrumentals? Obviously, straight instrumental cuts don't count here! Link to comment Social source share

The flip of The Contenders "Do What You Gotta Do" Edge, is the same team & style of Boss Four. Link to comment Social source share

Biggordy
Not Northern but there's a spaced out "dubby" instrumental to Syl Johnson's "Different Strokes". Link to comment Social source share
