Guest Polyvelts
I've become a tad obsessed recently with this great singer song writer and his various outings on Bomar, Paula, ICA, Cancer and Modern. Does anyone know if he recorded for any other labels. Did he ever cut an album ? Is the great man still even with us, I hope he is and still recording !! Any recent sightings of the great Mr Gilliam ? Link to comment Social source share
Sean Hampsey
Underrated vocalist in the Jerry Butler mould. A Johhny Gilliam was leader of the Marvelettes Road Band in the 60's. I don't know if its the same artist. Did you know he also wrote the superb "How Can I Say I'm Sorry" (J. Ruffin). Apart from the obvious rarities, I've always rated his ICA sides "Thank You For Loving Me" and "Come Back Carol" circa '78. Pretty Positive that he never did an LP. Garethx
Polyvelts: I agree that Won't Someone Help Me is an awe-inspiring record. Probably my favourite Gilliam 45 too. It's also available on Cancer as well and still dirt cheap despite being brilliant and not too commonplace. Link to comment Social source share
