Can Anyone Help With A Robbie Lawson Scan?

Hi

If anyone has a decent scan of Robbie Lawson "Burning Sesation" could they please post it up in here?.

Or if you know of a secret place that has a decent scan of this disc, please let me know where it is.

I am trying to make a wall of records poster thingy and want this one on it, and unfortunately i dont own a copy. I do have a scan but it is pretty poor so any help would be appreciated.

Some of us can only dream of owning such records, so getting nice scans of the records and printing them up in a poster for the wall is the only way of getting a proper look at them. (as i slip into Homer drool mode ). So i`m with you on that one.

Bloody marvelous to look at, even more so to own. Many times i`ve kicked myself for selling up years ago,(how many people have done that), had some really nice stuff thats worth a small fortune nowadays, but can`t complain, it`s still nice to hear them ( and see them ). Brings back some great memories.

Thanks for the scans so far, I am new to this forum as you can see, and your help is amazing. Heres to many more posts.

Yes, it was booted twice. I can't remember what the other was, but seem to think it was pink, soul galore?

I seem to remember they are both on a 'Kyser' label, one yellow, one pink. I was told ages ago that the pink ones are boots and the yellow one are re-issues, and hence the yellow ones play better.

I remember seeing this on Tim Brown's list in January 1990, and believe that it went to Pat Brady at the time.

I seem to remember they are both on a 'Kyser' label, one yellow, one pink. I was told ages ago that the pink ones are boots and the yellow one are re-issues, and hence the yellow ones play better.

The yellow ones do play better and they are the ones to go for.

Avoid the pink styrene boots, as they omit the original slow build-up intro, and instead edit the last intro bar three times over to replace it. Those who know and love Burning Sensation for what it really is will agree that the results are pretty dire (shite).

I would still say that the yellow ones are just as booty as the pink ones though. The other side "I Have Searched" is good if you like blue-eyed doo-wop.

Suprisingly only around a maximum of £1500 I would guess Sean. Its never been a really big record over the years has it ? Mind you, your copy has to be one of the best around so could garner more interest because of the condition. (Glad it escaped the flood ) Pete French has a near mint copy on his website for £1400.

Thanks for the scans guys, i really appreciate them, and for the debate about it being the first £1000 record. Taking that one step further (or back), this was one of only a handfull of records i can remember from my Casino days as being worth £100 or more.

The others i can remember were.

Frank Wilson - Do i love you, ( which Kev Roberts had for sale in his box for £500 ).

Jimmy Mack - My world is on fire, ( caused quite a stir in the record bar when someone had it for sale one night).

Cant think of any more offhand, but i think there was a few more. Even when Don Gardener - Cheatin Kind was uncovered it could be picked up for around £60, ( bought one at a nighter in Nottingham for that price, then sold it a week later at Wigan for £90, Thought i`d made a killing there!!!???), can also remember a Larry Clinton - 3 States changing hands for £90, Al Williams - I am nothing £90 and also a Damon Fox - Packin up going for around the same. Lester Tipton - This wont change for £80 and on and on etc etc.

£100 was a fair slice of cash in 80-81 and it seemed like nobody wanted to go over that magical limit for a record.

How times have changed. (please no mentions of the Don Gardeners worth nowadays).

Hello Mark , I remember The Jades " I'm where it's at " Nite Life , being valued at £100 in the late 70's , before Dave Mac . melted it !!] also Magnetics " Lady in green " Bonnie was sold for well over the magical £100 towards the end of Wigan .Also Richard Searling paid £200 for Cecil Washington , and I think he got a fair pile of dosh for The Construction " Hey little way out girl " when he sold it to Neil Donkin ? on the coast .Hope this helps ,Best ,Eddie

Thanks for the info there, i forgot about the Jades, but do remember it being melted. There is the story about how that happened is somewhere knocking around on the net.

The other 3 also were probably valued at over £100, but they would have been "cover ups" at the time ( Cecil Wahington-Joe Matthews, Construction-Del Capris and i cant remember what the Magnetics was covered as) and i think folk were not prepared to pay big money in case a lot of copies turned up after they were uncovered. This happened a few times. New Wanderers- This Man In Love, i bought off Soul Sam at Wigan for £30 still covered up, (but it had been uncovered the week before).This came down to around a fiver a few months later. Another i can remember was Toni Basil- Breakaway, which my mate paid £50 for and i picked it up a few weeks later for a tenner. L Allen was another and the list goes on.

I think that now, because the records have been known for so long and there is a rough idea of how many copies there is (or isn`t) of a certain record, that you know someone is unlikely to find a box full in some dark and dusty place, therefore the rarity of certain records is fairly well known. ( see the Billy Woods Thread )This reflects on the prices nowadays, which i still think is high in some cases, but if someone is willing to pay that price, then thats how much it is worth,( to that particular person anyway).

I personally wouldn`t pay £1000+ for any record, no matter how badly i wanted it.

Just thought of one more that may have been valued at over £100. Court Davis- try to think, covered as The Lover Who Loves You Not- Cant Remember, getting old. Oh and Rita and the Tiaras-Gone With The Wind?. Cant think of any more, though these were both "cover ups" at the time as well. If you can think of any more it would make an interesting debate on a new thread. Might start it myself when i`ve had more of a think about it.

Also vaguely remember J Manship paying big money for James Fountain-Seven Day Lover in the late 70`s. Think it was in the region of £250 - £300 ?. I could be wrong on the price and person, but that is what i seem to recall.

I hassled Searling for months to flog Court Davis to me, i went up to 120 quid at the time , but he politely refused. everytime I did buy his chandlers off him prior to that and Rex Garvin - you don,t need no help.

He did offer to cut an emi of court davis for me ...but it never happened ....
