Guest Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Jimmy, Like One Time Roomate Johnny Nash, Loved The Caribbean And Calypso Music Introduced Into The Mainstream Consciousness By Harry Belafonte. This Music Form Was Never To Far From His Heart. From His First Release "Twist Calypso", Or Performing Live, Through To Producing One Of Carolyn Franklin's Best Sides "If You Want Me" Jimmy's Passion Remained Intact. Another Of His Early Songs And Recordings Slated For A Musicor Release Was "Sunshine Hope And Love". A Beautiful Lilting Number With His Voice Multi-layered Throughout. After A trip To Jamaica In 1967 He Wrote The Highly Dancable Ska Inflected "Tears Into Laught" Featuring Eric Gale On Guitar. "Sunshine Hope And Love" 7" 45 Acetate VG £175 Jimmy_Radcliffe_Sunshine_Hope_And_Love.mp3 "Tears Into Laughter" 10" 45 Acetate VG+ £195 03___Tears_Into_Laughter.mp3
Guest Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 (edited) Speaking Of Carolyn Franklins "If You Want Me" Session... It Was During That Time Period That Jimmy Became Acquainted With Jamaica's Glenroy "Ernie" Smith And Produced His Own Version Of Ernie's Song "Pitta Patta" With Himself And Carolyn Doing Backing Vocals. This Is One Where You Can Hear Where His Soul And The Surf Meet... With "Raindrops Comin' Down". Not To Surprising That Dearboy Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" Is Too Soon Realized. "Pitta Patta" 10" 45 Acetate, Mint- £225 Pitta_Patta_c_.mp3 Edited August 8, 2007 by Mangomn2003
Guest Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Glenroy "Ernie" Smith Is Still Performing "Pitta Patta" To This Day!

Pete S Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Different backing track on that version of Tastes Sour Chris...it's great. Still prefer the Barbara version though
Guest Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Different backing track on that version of Tastes Sour Chris...it's great. Still prefer the Barbara version though Yeah Cause Jimmy's Backing Vocal Is So Prominent On Barbara's Version. But All In All I Like The Man Layin' It Down Like He Did, Usually Over Covers Of His Material Too.
Guest Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 As Soon As I Can Find It, The Unissued Debbie Stuart Version, I'll Post It (It's Not Where It Should Be!!!) But Here Is The Minor Hit From Patti Page. "Pretty Boy Lonely" - Patti Page (Columbia #42671) 01___Pretty_Boy_Lonely.mp3
