Stuart Russell Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Does anyone have any idea what this goes for now on Paree? It's one of a few 45s I'm thinking of selling. I know the guides say up to £250 but this sounds a bit steep given that it was a fairly common record at one time. Any help (or offers!) would be appreciated. Stuart
Pete S Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Sold one about 6 weeks ago for £150. It's gone from £10 to £250 in the space of 3 years, not quite sure why.
Pete S Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 wasnt this booted/reissued? Well John Manship says it was. I personally remain unconvinced, though he did explain it to me once. Whats certain is that every copy was sold as an original at the time and they all came from one source who found the entire dead stock (Kev Roberts in fact)
Dave Pinch Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 true it was available for a time. But then i must have gone 5 years not seeing a copy for sale. seen 2 or 3 recently tho. there was a copy for sale at middleton on saturday for £300 dave

Then I stuck one on a list for offers as I couldn't get a price on it and I think it was Greg Tormo made me a good offer and so I knew something was up then...and then I kept getting outbid when I tried to buy a copy for myself! I sold the one the other day for £150 because that's what I thought was a fair price.
Platters 81 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 (edited) i seem to recall the one i acquired had stamps of the title all over the label (you know what i mean)..Mark Dob said it was a boot....sold it not long after Edited July 17, 2007 by platters 81
Pete S Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I thought the boots all had the B side on both sides, if you see what I mean
Dave Pinch Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I bort it cheap from a bloke who also sold me an ivories on despenza the same day. only knew it from an old tape i had Didnt know owt abart it cept that i liked it. spoke to certain people. no one knew it. manships guide came out. it wasnt in it 2nd edition came out, not in there either. dont think its in brownies. and all this time never saw another copy bootleg or otherwise. its only been in the last couple of years i seen a copy or 2 or 3. its in johns last book @ £300 and i think he got about that in auction for it. was it really kicking around in the 80s &early 90s then. coz if it was i missed it and i was collecting like a maniac then dave 1
Eddie Hubbard Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I remember this being advertised in Echoes around the same time as other pressed sides like Joe Hicks ,Salvadors , Little Joe Roman , Mel Britt etc .I seem to remember there was supposed to be a pressing fault with them so not sure if they ever made the marketplace ? Hope this helps ,Best ,Eddie 1

Hope this helps ,Best ,Eddie Eddie I bet if you check back you'll find that these came later around the time of Ringleaders and John Bowie. The ones you refer to above came out in mid 1976, remember it well as I just left school. Admirations was definitely later than those, 6 months to a year. I mentioned above that there is a pressing with the B side on both sides, there was one of those on ebay a few months back.

In fact I remember a Russ Winstanley list with Joe Romans, Flirtations, Dave Newman, Anderson brothers, Salvadors, Joe Hicks, Johnny Vanelli, Flirtations, George Blackwell - and they were all advertised as originals. I also remember the list being confiscated from me by Mr Rowley as I was reading it in my last exam before I left school. As a result I refused to do the rest of the paper and got grade 5 cse maths which is about retard level

Few years back this was, took me sooo long to figure out what it actually was!
