kevinsoulman Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 Stax.. cheers mate any one seen it on gospel truth1204 lately cheers kev
Garethx Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Still probably worth a fiver on either USA Gospel Truth or UK Stax. An absolutely brilliant 45 which, if records were priced on quality alone would be worth thousands.
Ismaelg Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Still probably worth a fiver on either USA Gospel Truth or UK Stax. An absolutely brilliant 45 which, if records were priced on quality alone would be worth thousands. Whats the first edition,Stax 1037 or Gospel truth 1204?? Thanks in advance!
Garethx Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) Gospel Truth in the US was the first release. Uk Stax a couple of weeks behind it. Edited July 15, 2007 by garethx
Sebastian Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Whats the first edition,Stax 1037 or Gospel truth 1204?? It was issued on both Gospel Truth and Stax in the US. The Gospel Truth release is from 1972 and the Stax issue is from 1977. A truly superb tune.
Baz Atkinson Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 great tune indeed as is I know a man who and a number of ballads he done also, what a voice right up there imho. BAZ A
Guest Ivor Jones Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Still probably worth a fiver on either USA Gospel Truth or UK Stax. An absolutely brilliant 45 which, if records were priced on quality alone would be worth thousands. I`LL SECOND THAT GARETH. STRANGE INDEED WHEN YOU THINK OF SOME OF THE REALLY MEDIOCRE RECORDS WHICH REGULARLY FETCH MONEY AND SOMETHING AS BRILLIANT AS THIS, [bRILLIANT IS AN OVERUSED WORD BUT NOT IN THIS CASE ! ], YOU CAN PICK UP FOR A FIVER.........
kevinsoulman Posted July 15, 2007 Author Posted July 15, 2007 thanks for all the info folks just managed to pick up a demo on gospel truth for a $1.99 but as you say its pure magic thanks kev
boba Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 thanks for all the info folks just managed to pick up a demo on gospel truth for a $1.99 but as you say its pure magic thanks kev i'm sure you all know this already, but just in case, "gonna be a showdown" is an archie bell cover where they took the lyrics and made them about jesus. The original is one of the best archie bell songs too.
Sweeney Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I`LL SECOND THAT GARETH. I'll third that! You can buy any Rance Allen record blind as they're all brilliant. If this was a rare tune people would be fighting each other to own a record of this sublime quality. Buy two and give one to a mate - they'll thank you for it.
Guest Polyvelts Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Flip it over for an absolutely spellbinding version of Rev James Cleveland's classic - 'That will be good enough for me'. Rance is unbelievable. I just found out he played at the Dyblin Soul Festival (?) earlier this year , did anyone catch him ? Would love to hear a write up - only gutted I missed it, would have been a dream come true. There are some great clips of him on youtube - as BW says -CHECK IT OUT !
KevH Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 got "GBAS" on Uk Stax ,does anyone else think the bass line in the toon is over produced giving it a "thud"??,or is it my system?is it the same on the import?,,KEV.
Stuart Russell Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 The album Sanctified that came out on UK Stax in 1975 is worth getting, although I've no idea if it's easy to get. And there's also the CD All The Way which has the brilliant Stay With Me (got modern plays a few years back). I know that's easy to get. Stuart
Baz Atkinson Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 BE TRUE IS A STUNNING BALAD ON TRUTH ! PS THE SANCTIFIED LP IS SIMPLY AWESOME AGREE ON THAT
Soul Shrews Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 "Ain't no need Of Crying" does it for me too Cheers Paul
