Lads, quick question regarding all the new reissued Funk and rare groove LP stuff on the market over the last few years.

I was looking at a couple in a shop the other day, The Ripple LP, I think on GRP and Tommy Stuart with the Hump and Bustle music track on. There seems to be no indication, apart from being clean covers and spotless vinyl that these albums are not original. I remember in the early 80's when reissued LP's came out, there would at least be a barcode on them, not these ones!

I was wondering whether anyone out there has any ideas how to tell the difference between the newer pressings and the originals?

I could imagine some poor buggers have come a croper on Ebay regarding these newer copies, because there is no immediate indication that they are not originals, they even have the year of the original on there labels!!!

If they are pre 75 lps they tend to be brown inside of the sleeve as apose to white.

Many also have paste on backs rather than wrap around.

80's soul lps are a different story.....
