Yep, I've got the "Riot" LP on London and the Ralph Robles "Taking It Over". Not aware of any others, other than Acid as you've mentioned. Picked up Joe Bataan "Too Much Lovin' " on gold fania 45 the other day, never heard it before, it's brilliant - you know it? See you soon chief Rich

Maark Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 nice one mossy `` Never heard that one before......nice tune!
Mace Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I've had a couple of copies of the Fania release of Special Girl with 'Magic Rose' on flip. One went to Johnny Beggs (sure you'll be glad to hear that Jim). Great tune...played it at Sandbach J17 last week....has someone bouncing upi to the decks to find out what it was. Quite hard to find the Fania 45...though I think one went on ebay last week... Nice to hear some quality latin getting spins on the soul scene again....

Still have my Fania demo...........cool record..........Timeless!!! I was going to pop to "Amlwch" but had to cover a shift at work. Will get up there soon! We split our "Hipsters" to this many times did we not! In yer face Boogaloo and a fantastic vocal from Ronnie Marks! And this was a popular tune with the more stylish cats in the 1980s but for me................."gypsy woman" was (and is) one of my fav Jo B tunes and the most soulful flip....................."so fine" and "too much lovin" is the flip of the original gold release of "ordinary guy" rich..................sorry asleep there for a min...........great tune rich!
Guest Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Are you still up for that week in Ibiza Richie? One of J Bataans later instros "Free set of acid jazz beads with every sale" QUALITY!
Platters 81 Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 that Beggsy always gets the latin before me......mind you he buys my latin so thats fair enuff......heres a Peruvian Do-re-mi ......no Magic Rose... but Subway Joe is a good second prize...i swear this is a good 5rpm faster......must have been hectic in Lima in the 60ts
