Guest Soultown andy Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Completley mad but the good well run venues will be busy and the others wont.
good angel Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Will they all play the same records, but in a different order? Kev
Guest krawen Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 thirty venues plus whitby as the scene gone mad ? Only thirty, there's at least five that i know of in the Notts/ Derby area alone Steve B
Epic Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Only 52 weekends in a year - take out 6-8 weekenders - leaves you with approximately 45 weekends to go at. Blackburn & Prestwich in the North - which are always well attended - take out another twelve - how many are we down to now? Too many gigs - not enough attendees.
Guest bill storey Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I tend to go to the ASE in darlo when I get the chance though that is getting fewer and farther between these days, I do find it quite surprising though that small venues still play on clash nights with big local venues such as Piercebridge and even Whitby for us, Whitby it is quite a distance from Darlo but it will affect the numbers. Still so long as everyone at every doo is enjoying themselves that is all that really matter to me..
Jim G Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Just spoke to me sister in the queue, wish I could be there, but work gets in the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!arg
Mark B Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 thirty venues plus whitby as the scene gone mad ? does that mean everyone one should close theirs and go to whitby. mark

Guest Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 thirty venues plus whitby as the scene gone mad ? Yep totally bonkers, but to be fair they are pretty much spread around the country Steve...think it brings home the need for promoters to get their act together though , happily i think its something we are begining to do in Northants...we have culled our events down by half and as you know We Got Soul has gone bi- monthly.. Len is no longer doing the Embankment and although there is another night starting in Rushden i was speaking to one of the promoters last night and he only plans to do a few a year...cant speak for any others as i dont know their plans...but i do think its starting to sink in with most promoters in Northants....see you at Sallys do on Friday
Guest Bogue Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Certainly thins out the members online here Wish people would feel a bit more positive about the fact though, isn't it wonderful to think that the popularity is still healthy ? There will come a day when we will probably not find any ! so why not rejoice in it instead ! As others have said, if the people at them are happy whatever the numbers then great. Bigger isn't always best anyway.
Tabs Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 ....see you at Sallys do on Friday Make sure you introduce yourself Jemco. Literally been speaking to Len 30 mins ago at the Banbury do. Looking forward to meeting you See you Friday 13Th. Oh noooooooo!! ATB Tabs
Md Records Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Merely an observation, but even if there was a Hundred events, there would still be no shortage of people to D.J at them all. DES PARKER
