Guest Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 BS366851@SKYNET.BE SOME NORTHERN ´S COLLECOTRS DON´T LIKE THE BARBARA REDD (spqr) . BUT ´M SURE THAT MANY COLLECOTRS IN UK LIKE THIS BEAUTIFULL BELGIUM POPCORN . OF COURSE YOU CAN SAY " I DON´T LIKE THE BARBARA REDD " BUT PLEASE DON´T SAY TO STOP PLAYING THIS NICE RECORD !!!! BECAUSE THE BEST EXEMPLE IS THE BETTY O´BRIEN " SHE´LL BE GONE " MANY COLLECOTRS THINK THAT IT´S A NORTHERN RECORD BUT THAT ´S ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE BECAUSE IT´S A BELGIUM POPCORN TILL 25 YEARS ...........SO PLEASE , IF YOU LIKE THE BARBARA REDD .....CONTINUE TO PLAY IT .
Guest Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 We play it at FLIPside along with many other Popcorn tunes. We don't let the price or rarity of a 45 be it's value ... the true value of any tune is it's dance floor action ... I hope that most Northern collectors appreciate a good song regardless of genre .... This Christmas (actually Saturday 6th December) we are holding a Popcorn Special in the Specialists room, with the UK and Europes finest exponents of this genre laying down the biggest & rarest Popcorn tunes till 8am, and I think all those who are sceptical about popcorn will be awakend to a new source of rare soul, R&B, ska and other less pidgeon holed music styles. Come along and see what all the fuss is about .. Mark Stewart www.flipsideclub.co.uk
Mike Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Barbara Redd?? think can be classed as one of the most talked about 45s over recent years, my view on it is still..... great stuff:)!!
Guest Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Not the old babs redd debate again. Everytime ive spun it its filled the dancefloor. Funny though how those who moan and debate everything on the northern scene never seem to get of their arses to dance or do nights of there own. Anyway ive moved on to the sound of young jessie and the big cheif and at this moment in time constructing my wigwam and teepee. See ya Al H
Mike Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 talking bout native americans and "moving on" always reckoned Chyvonne Scott - I'm Moving On has a nice sort of wigwam soul feel
grant Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 heard worse tha Barbra Redd being spun - although it still commands a few hundred quid or so, even if it were a tenner record it still deserves a play. keep your over-priced c--p thats being spun viz. futures, soundmasters (very ordinary 45),houston outlaws etc!!
Guest Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Keep playing it Al. You know that I can't stand it but you're right, its a floorfiller. I've just got a stonking bit of RnB called Lady In Red. Do you think I'll get away with covering it up as Bryan Adams?
Guest Posted October 11, 2003 Posted October 11, 2003 houston outlaws overpriced crap...!! gonna have to have a lie down!! )
Guest Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 HOUSTON OUTLAWS - FUNNY THATS WHAT WE DO WHEN IT COMES ON !!
