Falcons Carl 503

Just looking for info someone here might have...

I've tracked down the Label, a small imprint in Opelousas, LA

(Carl is the name of the owners' son)

But I've yet to find any info on the artists.

This is not the "Wilson Pickett Falcons" but moreso a surfish garage type thing

which, in Louisiana, is uncharachteristic. This area is the heart of Cajun, Zydeco, Swamp Pop

and Polka Rap.

Just kidding about the polka rap.

Any information appreciated. Will trade data for beer.

It´s a Rockabilly label. Only "Soul" release of interest to my knowledge is by Little Kenneth & The Rhythm so and so. The Falcons record (I once had and didn`t thought too much of it) is about 20 USD.

I've seen a few other items on that label, but not the artist you mention.

The value is in the grooves.

My mate Chico played this in the Pheonix allnighter in Holyhead back in the early 90's after finding a copy in the USA. It became it floor filler there and at other venue's in the north west including Winsford and Blackburn allnighters. I remember finding in on Craig Moerer pop list and I bought a 25 count box off him $100. Due to demand, at the nighters I managed to sell them all in a very short space of time for between £60 - £100 a single. Mr Moerer had it listed as Swamp Pop at the time, but shortly moved it across to his Soul listings and priced it at $60 a single.

I live about an hour from Opelousas, the town where that imprint was based.

The music itself, again, is surprisingly unique for this region of the USA.

We are in the heart of cajun country, and zydeco, "chank-a-chanK" and

tradional cajun music is far more the norm.

This was a refreshing find... imho. The value info is interesting as well,

as I could find very few... ahem, accurate estimates till now.
