I seem to recall seeing Dave Halsall's copy and the label being "Emandolyn" - does that sound about right?

Don't know about an alternate flip to the Lawton 45 - be interesting if anyone knows more though.

The flipside to "We want freedom" on "Emandolyn" is "Don`t ever hurt me" same as the "Lawton" 45 but it`s not that title on the label it`s something else, can`t remember at the mo i`ll dig it out latter and let you know.

Ike Lovely I want it all / You're my bad habit Capitol

Al Gardner Watch yourself/ Just a touch of your hand Sir-Rah

Two great raw boned dancers with beautiful deep ballads flipside. An odd one has to be the Bad Boys - What took you so long/ You're not alone anymore.

Topside an OV Wright soundalike and the flipside like Del Shannon on the dancing powder.

Cheers

Right just dug it out,the flip side is called "When he slowly moves away" but it plays "Don`t ever hurt me",

was told the history about this but can`t remember the full story,i`ll have to have a chat with DH when i see him next,

also what`s strange is that it`s got a "Bendo Wright Associates" distributers label over the title.

Think they all have that on em Dave.

Seem to recall the story was that Ernie Campbell pressed up some promos, but never distributed them. By the time old Dave Hassle :hypo: found him he had 25 left and Dave got them all. I've never seen or heard of a copy that didn't come from Dave so it's fair to say the rest were probably trashed. Dave never got any Nurons off of him either

I thought DH got some tapes from Campbell or his son with some unissued stuff on and one of the tracks was

"When he moves slowly away",so Dave got the 45s expecting that track to be the on the 45s but due to some pressing plant mix up it ended up being "Don`t ever hurt me" instead,i think Dave also said that Campbell Jr found these 45s tucked away somewhere in the studio when they were doing some new building work on the studio, but then again i could be completly wrong :hypo: .

Hey John, your last played clip "The Magic Is Gone" is my old Sunny & The Sunliners cover up (Bradford Queens Hall days).

Must have taped it for you nearly 25 years ago?

Wierd huh!

Think I'd have a seizure if I tried to shake a leg to it nowadays!

Sean

Hmm, it did sound familiar... I think I recall the tape it is on - still got it somewhere :hypo:

Thanks for the info on the Rotations 45 also guys

the Northern 'What Good Am I' backed by the sublime Deep soul of 'You Got Me' -one of the finest tracks ever!

Moses Smith on Cotillion has not been mentioned yet, so:

Moses Smith - Come on Let me love you / Keep on striving / Cotillion

Also some lesser talked about b sides that I reckon are great:

Oretha Barnes - Never loved nobody / Waiting for Joey / Coral

Clara woods- Your after my guy / Old & Grey / Imperial

Clydie king - soft & gentle ways/- He'll always come back / Imperial

Must say I've not seen it very often... at any price, but do recall Craig having one on for £300+ years ago.

That Mary Love on Elco got two pressings, slightly different takes...

Double siders for me would be:

Pearl Dowdell "Good Things" / "It's All Over" (Saadia) - storming funk backed with crossover perfection

Roosevelt Matthews "Tighten Up" / "You Got Me Digging You" (King) - ditto
