June 15, 200717 yr What's most important - to me - is having the record so I couldn't care less what label it's on as long as I can play it at home. If I was to play it out - it would be on Cool - but at home, it could be on Music For Pleasure for all I care

Depends on wether you consider yourself a collector and where you're playing it though. If it's just at home why not settle for the Goldsoul which you can probably get for as little as £3.50. I do sometimes wonder how we're going to get a new generation of young Northern DJ's. Even if they appreciate the music - what happens when you tell them that, even though their mates might be educated to our scene by listening to CD's, for DJing it's a tough search and £10,£50, £200+ per track. June 16, 200717 yr If you intend to DJ on the Rare Soul scene then there is no choice, it has to be an original. Well there is a choice actually, you could buy a good record for £70 instead. If you only want to listen at home just download it from some site or other for free-the artist and publishers will get the same in royalties as they would if you buy a boot.
June 16, 200717 yr I just collect Stateside demo's now(still about 100 short , but picked a couple up of you kind folk here), i never play them , they just gather dust, but when you do collect, it's nice to have the originals, even if you don't play them. When i want to listen to them, i listen off the hard drive on my Pc
