Guest Paul Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Very sad to hear that Kim Tolliver has passed away after a long illness. She was tragically underrated and I'll always remember her for "Learn To Get Along Without You", "Standing Room Only" etc. Paul Mooney
John Al Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Very sad to hear that Kim Tolliver has passed away after a long illness. She was tragically underrated and I'll always remember her for "Learn To Get Along Without You", "Standing Room Only" etc. Paul Mooney Totally agree Paul, a star that never really shone. For me I guess it's "I Don't Know What Foot To Dance On" and more recently, the brilliant deep soul masterpiece "Where Were You" Best, John.

Garethx Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 (edited) Sad news indeed. Could someone please post up a soundfile of her "I'm Losing The Feeling" on Chess: to me one of the greatest soul vocal performances of all time. Edited June 11, 2007 by garethx
Baz Atkinson Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 WHERE WERE YOU IS ONE OF THE DEEPEST MOST SOULFUL RECORDS EVER IMHO AND SHE HAD A TREMENDOUS VOCAL INTENSITY THAT WAS VERY RARELY MATCHED ,VERY SAD NEWS INDEED. BAZ A.

Mike Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 very sad news indeed sadder as long time readers may recall quite a few years ago (late 90s I think) Andrew Hamilton passed on some recent photos and also the news on here that she was in a hospital and in a very bad way back then, RIP Kim the original post from then can be read here
Guest Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Very sad news, yet another great singer has gone RIP KIM
Guest Karen Heath Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Not many days go by now before another soul artist joins the others.....very sad. R.I.P Kim.
Guest Richard Bergman Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 (edited) An underated impassioned singer. I concur with Gareth that her greatest recording is "I'm Losing The Feeling" I was actually thinking about Kim Tolliver on the way home from Cleethorpes oddly enough. God knows what sparked it. Sadly missed. Richard B Edited June 13, 2007 by Richard Bergman
Guest Darks Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Standing room only - one of the best deep soul records ever made!!!!! Hell yes, "have'nt seen you with the lights on for two nghts in a row". I also dig "I'll try to do better" Rojac As ever another sad loss. Regards Alan
jocko Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Losing The Feeling - kim tolliver - chess lp As requested, amazing vocals by an amazing singer, not sure this is my favorite track on album, which shows what a mighty album it is. For Mr Sweeney who I am eternally gratefull for tipping me on to this LP. Sad Sad loss of a great talent, one of the greatest soul singers?
jocko Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Where Were You - kim tolliver - rojac 12" Mighty Mighty performance, absent parents look away now. Just one of my favorite moments on record, the full version as you can hear her pain clearer. One of those so good it hurts records, but really this time......RIP Kim
