Stars Of Stage And Screen ?

Recommended Posts

I sat down to watch a late film a few nights back.

:lol::lol: I awoke at about 2am just in time to see the credits of PLATOON rolling up the screen and in my bleary eyed state thought I spotted the name Corey Glover.

Don't ask me what role he played, I was still semi-comatose, and probably only saw the first 20 minutes of the film.

Was this THE Corey Glover?

Any other soulsters in TV/movie roles?

Two more that spring to mind are Franki Valli and Dean Parrish, who have both had roles in my favourite series - SOPRANOS.

- Kevin.

If you mean 'the' Corey Glover from the band Living Colour, then yes. I bought their first three albums and used to enjoy that funk/rock fusion stuff, Faith No More were another good band. Not heard any of his recent stuff though.

The guy who plays Silvio in the Sopranos is Bruce Springsteen's saxophonist from the E Street Band.

A little bit of research shows that you are correct, the Corey Glover form Living Colour was indeed in PLATOON.

I was thinking of Corey Glover who did "Little Girl" which lies somewhere deep in my collection. In my ignorance I don't know if we're talking about the same Corey. I'd be disappointed if we were though as Living Colour don't sound like my cup of tea any more than Bruce Springsteen is.

Thanks for the info.

I didn't know it was released as a single but Little Girl is on his album Hymns. He's diversified a bit recently. I just stuck Living Colour on and they are very rocky, more so than i remember. He's done a bit of Soul and Jazz as well though.

Funny I should see this as only the other night I was watching the credits roll on Lethal Weapon III and there, playing Danny Glover's wife was Darlene Love of the Blossoms.

I'd not thought about that for years 'til I saw this post, Googled it and Chuck Mangione was in the same episode.

Guest TONY ROUNCE

Ernie Lee Banks often turned up in the 1990s in various US TV shows, including NYPD BLue. Another Modern Soul man, Ron 'Roney' Canada is in things all the time - I saw him in an episode of "Brothers And Sisters" only a few weeks ago (yet to be transmitted in the UK, BTW)

Nella Dodds told us recently that she has an acting role in the upcoming follow up to "Bruce Almighty", called "Evan Almighty" and starring 'The 40 Year old Virgin' Steve Carell.

There are others that I can't think of for the moment, but I will!

Guest Richard Bergman

No-one has mentioned Richard Pryor yet....one time backing singer with the wonderful Ruby & The Romantics.

The recently departed Freddie Scott appeared with Gene Hackman in the film "No way out"

There is a whole host of artists who have appeared on the silver screen through the years.

I will endevaour to put a few more up when I finally get this report finished at work.

I do recall myself starting this very topic about 3 years ago....oh how the wheel of soul source turns.

Melba More's been in loads of TV things in the 80's, including the childrens weepie cartoon "All Dogs Go To Heaven".

The last thing I saw her in was the Cuba Gooding jr film The Fighting Temptations. Along with Ann Nesby, Angie Stone and Eddie Levert. Oh I nearly forgot Beyonce...
