Soulsmith Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 when did we ever like live acts as a nighter anyway?? Well since you ask, the moment for me was seeing Martha & The Vandellas live at Wigan '77ish Never looked back. I'm just in awe of live soul in the right settings.
Guest Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 (edited) Best (and worst) live act for me...Torch all-dayer(My birthday) Detroit Emeralds absolute f++kin rubbish! but the saxaphonist was brilliant!! he got an ovation and did a sort of encore much to the surprise of the group! Millie Jackson -Whitchurch all dayer brilliant sitting on Little! Willies shoulders, even the Sweet Sensation were a good live act(or were we just young and naive?) at least they could do back drops. One of the best live acts to be seen were at the 100 club before the niter! Pissed up Lonnie Donnegan playing the spoons on the table,Chicago Johnny and the Blues Brothers magic and loads of wierd jazzy types. Steve One of the best live acts I have ever seen at an all - nighter , was the appearance of The Stylistics at The Torch ...... Chris Burton putting them on was totally out of context , but all credit to Chris , it worked , and it was , without a doubt , a memorable night ..... Malc Burton Edited June 10, 2007 by Malc Burton
Kevinkent Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 ...wots happend to that underground thing i once loved, and it was mine. XX. Once felt the same way with regards to Wigan Casino. ...And what are they doing to our parallels with all that waistband and all those pocket flaps and buttons ! How times change. Best thing is - 30 years on and they're still good times. "STOLEN HOURS" RAMSGATE 21st JULY
