Guest garv Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) Ian / Karen Not sure if in right section so please move if not Went past the old Emi pressing plant ealier today in Hayes[ Middx] & there knocking large parts of the buildings down Its a truely magnificent building even if its been neglected for many years & spread over a vast area It got me thinking of all the vinyl that had been pressed there & the history of the place & its standing in the history of British music. Ive scanned the web for some pics [surprisingly, not to much i could find] of what it was like & will put some up of how it looks now by the end of the week [ i will have to borrow a camera first]. One good piece of news i found out is that a company called Vinyl factory Austraila bought one of the pressing plants & machinery, theres a good page on the history of the pressing plant on there web site.... started in 1907 & at the height of vinyl production [ 60`s & 70`s] they employed 12,000 people on the site... here`s a link www.vinylfactorygallery.co.uk the Pressing plant in the 1930`s The entrance Edited June 6, 2007 by garv
Guest garv Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Top man Kenny , i know the area where the vans are parked & can take some pics of how it is now. The ariel shot shows how vast it used to be, i can get some good shots from the railway bridge & i`m going to see if they will let me in the compound to get a few pics before the bulldozers are let loose.
