the tracks on the LP are mixed differently than the original 45s, though. They have the bass mixed very high (and possibly even extra bass added / played over them) so it makes the cuts cheesy and 80s sounding.

I think they're not the same, if you listen the bass is at least mixed much louder, it makes them sound different to me.

Was the album released in the 60's and the 80s then ?

I don't think that there was an album released in the 60s, I think in 1980 Dore issued the album compiling all the earlier stuff, but that they at least remixed some of the cuts (if not all) from the master tapes.

Bob's definately right on this. Some tracks or maybe all are different mixes. The one i think Richard wants it for "You can't fight what's right" is different to the 45 release, for me it's actually better.

Richard, PM me an email address and i'll send you a good quality mp3 and i'm sure you'll notice the difference.
