Guest johnm Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Last night I watched the movie based upon Otis Williams biography. Sat up till 2am and really enjoyed it. The actor playing David Ruffin was uncannily like him................. Well worth watching

Guest Dante Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I remember I saw one, must be the same. It's divided in two parts, isn't it? It was good, I think Smokey Robinson does a little part... CHeers
jocko Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Agreed its a great film, only word of caution though is its based on Otis Williams book which I thought was very poorly written and very obviously one sided making him out to be a saint that other commentators have disputed. He was not kind to Edwards or Ruffins repuation which again depending on who you listen to he was a bit harsh on them because they didnt rate him. However a decent fictional representation of one of the worlds greatest groups that was blessed to have two of the worlds greatest singers as members, not many can say that!!
SteveM Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 just as Dennis Edwards was about to sing Ain't too proud to beg he grabbed the mike............ "My name is David Ruffin, and these are the Temptations" Enjoyable, but very one sided in its viewpoint.

Guest in town Mikey Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Top Film once you get pass the bad dubbing, its taken from the mini series.. get a copy of that its excellant.. well worth watching.. That explains a lot, like the credits rolling part way through Always liked the Temps, but they were so popular I didnt really ever attempt to learn much about them. So seeing people in the movie like Jonnie Mae Mathews made me sit up straight. Was Maxine, Maxine Brown?? By the end I was beginning to get a little annoyed at how myopic the story was in favour of Otis, and against the others but that didnt stop it being a very enjoyable few hours this morning. Oh yeah, mine was 50p from Sue Ryder.
vaultofsouler Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 I remember I saw one, must be the same. It's divided in two parts, isn't it? Was in two parts on Sky.... can't remember which channel but they showed both parts directly after each other.... Did record both parts at the time but as they were shown as "veiwed" in the Planner our lass deleted them to free up space ....
