Going to do another Cheap as Chips night on 4th August. Playing top soul costing £50 or less (at today's prices). Ran this last year and musically it was one of the best nights we had all year. Thought I'd start this thread again to ask for your recommendations on underplayed cheap tunes that DESERVE more of an outing. I'll kick off with these beauties.

Billy Keane - Wishing and hoping - Vault

Knight Brothers - Love-can't you hear me - Checker

Chuck Bernard - Funny changes - Satelite

Jackie Verdell - Come let me love you -

Jackie Ross - Dynamite lovin' - Chess

The Hammond Brothers - 30 miles of railroad track - Abner

Al Reed - Sorry about that - Axe

Rudy Love - Suffering wrath - Canton

The Carltons - Ooo baby - Argo

will it be cheap as chips to get in aswell Warren :(

I missed the last one and have to agree i think its a great idea, there isnt anyone on here who hasnt at one time or another said that there are loads of quality tunes for very little money.

now is the time for everyone to prove it and support a night with this ethos on quality more than value. saying that Warren your nights are always quality :sleep3:

brewster crew - im one who know,

exsayevons - i dont love you no more

garnett mimms - prove it to me

little anthony - hurt so bad

azie mortimer - you cant take it away

al green - dont leave me

ruby andrews - i got a bone to pick with you

bobby womack - home is where the heart is

a few for you Warren to consider to play for me

thought this was up close to the £100 mark nowadays

Sweet And Kind - richard brown - steeltown inc.

Was just going through some records I hadn't played in ages and came across this seldom talked about old favourite of mine. The other side is great as well. There's no reason to pay more than £10 for this 45.

Clay Hammond's first release apparently.

...and written by Burt Bacharach, too! Top tune for me, too

(Whoops, should have read boba's post - but the top tune bit still goes!)

that's an interesting comment just because all 3 groups you're describing are from DC, must just be the DC sound you're hearing

Did think The Carlton's would be DC, as you say probably the that sound.
