Pete S Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Just wondered if this had ever been played out. This label is a right mess isn't it, their numbering system is all over the place, they use several different logos and deisgns but they all look really amateurish...part of the attraction I guess. This has number C 3004 on one side and no number at all on the other side but has 3002 scratched in on the b side
Paul Dunn Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 I have Love's coming down on me on Klondike (Great Dancer) / Lost without your love (Great Deep) Never let you get away / Have a little mercy Cedric 3002 Regards Paul
Pete S Posted May 20, 2007 Author Posted May 20, 2007 He's a well known Chicago soul person. Bound to be the same one.
boba Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 He's a well known Chicago soul person. Bound to be the same one. He's actually a St. Louis guy, he got started with Fontella Bass on Oliver Sain's revue.

boba Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 You know what I mean though. Checker, Cedric labels yes, definitely a chicago recording artist, I agree, I was just adding more detail
jocko Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Any chance of sound clips of the Bobby Mclure Cedric stuff, like most of his stuff, 60's to 80's but never heard them Cheers Jock
Sean Hampsey Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 One of my fave vocalists. "To Get What You Got" is my No1 Top Tune of all time... and his "Was It Something I Said" on Hi and his UK Island 45 "You Bring out The Love In Me" not very far behind. Modern soul fans should also check out his Edge release "You Never Miss Your Water" (which also came out on UK). Tremendous vocalist. And yes, the same guy as on the B-Mac release. Sean

Sean Hampsey Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Just had a look at You Got The Makings & it mentions St Louis but was pressed in Nashville for some strange reason. Was pressed twice Martin. One is distributed by SCORPIO one is slightly shorter with a different mix. Sean
Dave Pinch Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 don gardners "is this really love" has the same two label designs doesnt it. with two different catalogue numbers. As well as being on sedgerick. And that track, the bobby mclure tune and don`s cheatin kind are all on 3001. strange eh dave
jocko Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Modern soul fans should also check out his Edge release "You Never Miss Your Water" (which also came out on UK). Sean I have that on a 12", funny enough Sean was going to put the other side of that, It Feels So Good, on the cd swap, I prefer that side but like both sides. YNMYW may be a bit too electrified for some. ANyone got a discogrpaphy of the man anywhere to hand?
Prophonics 2029 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I have this Jackie Ross Sedgrick S-3007 Take The Weight Of Me - A Woman Man - in a similar vein to the Bobby a bit slower, think they are more tape swappers stuff that never get out of the house.
