Guest Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Hello again! After made questions about little-known artists like Sylvia Smith and Frankie Redmond, I have a long list of other (IMHO) great soul artists wich I only got one or two tracks in compilation and not info, not discography or bio... This is the case of John "Rootman " Henry. I got an only one track by him, a very deep soul up-tempo item, "Say It". Sounds like Wilson Pickett. I got it in spanish CBS compilation "Azºcar negro" (1972) and here's some other monsters as "Tired Of Bad News" by Cane & Able or "The Harder I Try" by a kind of 5th Dimension clon vocal group called Free Movement...

Nice tune that Rootman - think he did a couple of others as well, I'll try and have a look later.
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I've got one by him on Dig and one on Amber Antique, both are up in my attic (where I know we're not supposed to keep records, but something had to move to make room for the little 'un). From memory, they both have "Say It" on one side, but each with a different flip. I think the other side of one of them is "Love Is Not A Stranger"... ...Good record, as Steve says.
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Here are the labels of the Amber Antique 45. The one on Dig needs 'further excavation'. I remembered that it's called 'Who Am I', though...
Guest Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Nice info and scans. Thank you very much, Steve G and Tony Rounce! Any one knows something about Frankie Redmond, appart from his 45 "Fighting To Keep My Head Above Water"...?
