Agree Baz, plenty of good stuff on there and not too expensive.

Always loved Pat Lundi - Party Music. Big Mecca spin that went big everywhere at the time.

Be sure to flip that Trumains 45 over for the awesome "I'm At The Breaking Point", one the most loved and played soul 45s I've got. The other Trumains 45 on the label "Girl Don't Let Me Down" is a fabulous ballad.

Here are Street People (superb releases!!! :D ):

Are you saying that he did the lead vocals for The Street People? :D

I doubt that, and he isn't featured in the pictures on the Street People LP.

Maybe not then, but that's what Max Rees told me when he sold me the LP many years ago.

Joe Gardner  was the lead singer, the others are Milton Daniels, Tom Williams, Roy Daniels , and Rick Johnson.

OK.

Here's a picture of Ray from a recent Kent CD (but they might ofcourse also be wrong):

thats really nice ,anyone know there tune on spring seems to fetch a few quid -i wanna get over -spring 148.

BAZ A.

'I wanna get over' is great - a Ray Dahrouge tune that sounds hellishly like 'I can see him loving you'......the real killer is the B side though (only on the issues as the demos are double sided!) - it's called 'Baby you got it' - fantastic 70's dancer and like you say, fetches a few quid! I had it covered up at The Orwell as The Essex IV - no one rumbled it for about a year, so i uncovered it as I'd had my fun with it

Great label Vigor  When i was doing the 70's label discographies for Voices in the late 80's/early 90's this was high on the list to be done BUT I never got round to it

Not sure how many LP's they did but apart from the Street People, there's the Rythmn Makers LP too!

Cheers

Appears that Vigor had two different numbering systems...

Fiestas - So Fine appears on both 1712 and 712

but not sure if this standard numbering...

1715 flip is one of the best things on the label: "love's journey"...sweet male group soul. you guys might consider it "crossover." seems tough to find. every copy i've ever seen save one has a double a-side.

Napoli & Glasson's "Just A Little Timing" was listed on a Cleethorpes playlist in a Blues & Soul article C.1975/early '76 (along with Roger Collins on Fantasy, Five Degrees Farenheit et.al.), while Ian Levine played Jean Napoli "Let's Make Love" a few times on 12" at Blackpool, though I never liked it much at all. Pat Lundi's "Party Music" remains of course a bone fide Mecca anthem, but was also a big record at The Ritz in Manchester.

The Rhythm Makers apparently later changed their name to....(wait for it) ...GQ, who of course hit with "Disco Nights (Rock Freak)" on Arista - using the reworked backing track from "Soul On Your Side" no less! They also recorded one of my faves "Make My Dream A Reality", which would have been SOOO big at The Mecca had it been recorded a couple of years earlier, given it's ideal skipping rhythm! (As it was, I heard Colin Curtis play it first anyway, at a Tiffanies funk alldayer in 1979!) It has had revived spins on the '70s circuit in later years, as we all know.

Vigor 1734 - Street People -" Wanna Slow Dance With You, Baby" / "I Wanna Spend My Whole Life With You" came out on 12" disc also. Fond memories of the flip side particularly - only have the album nowadays, unfortunately.

I also remember that C.1976/7 Neil Rushton had bought so many copies of the Vigor catalogue singles from an importer in Telford, that he could hardly give them away. He was selling them for .25p each at one stage! - That's probably where most of the demo copies came from in fact!
