Andyontherock Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Ahh Memories mr Newman..remember trowing something out the window on the M6 coming back from blackburn?? How could I EVER forget that, voices in the head experience , totaly did my head in for ages. Nearly as bad as the time coming back from Warrington on a bank holiday, and as usual stopping of at Keele services. There was a massive que of holiday makers with trays waiting to be served, as I only wanted a cup of tea, I didn't take a tray and waited for my turn, trying not to look out of place , or catch anybody elses eye . When I finaly got served and I asked for "just a cup of tea", I was given a cup, saucer, jug of milk, tea pot and pot of hot water. My eyes nearly came out on stalks, I had to walk all the way back past everyone to get a tray, with everyone looking at me and tutting. I have never felt so paranoid in my life , I dont think that I spoke for the rest of the day.... Good job we can all look back and have a laugh about it now

Andyontherock Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 here's a few picks from around that time one or two may be from rock city. I Recognise some of those faces...Colin and Jane, Dave wheeler, is that Alison from Rugby ?at Rock city with the black sticky carpet and chunks missing from the dance floor. Looks like Mud from the back at Oddfellows. We need a rogues gallery from the old days !!! Nice to see, made me laugh and brought back some memories Andy
Guest JoJoW27 Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 It was brilliant, and in my opinion the atmosphere was better than Stafford, usually because Stafford was often only half full. I loved it, probably my favourite nighter. Went to the revival night organised by Ally in memory of Tommo and Mud a few years back. I have no idea why it hasn't been resurrected. Sad to have missed the revival night Shared some fantastic times with Tomo amd Mudd 78-81 on 'The Backrow' @ Wigan Casino.Still think of them both.

But I'm glad to see that he looks as happy as ever.
Guest Dave Wheeler Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 WOWWW!!!! A big hi to everyone whos been on this link, what a blast from the past, some of those pics though, oh dear! Wish I was still that thin, but at least I now have more than one shirt! I am living in the north of scotland, aprox half way between Aberdeen (soul nite sat!!) and Inverness. When I dropped out of the scene me, Rob from Rugby, Jimmy from Rugby (now works for the F.C.O at Istanbul embassy!!) Tink and Jayne Wilcoxson all got into rock climbing where all that skinnyness and footwork was put to good use, this is the main reason I moved to Scotland, which does have a soul scene in Aberdeen but its a little fractious. Have just started going to soul nites and the odd niter again but never lost the love of the music and over the last year the discovery of youtube has really fired me up again By the way, the incident with the punch up outside went like this, on my way down humberstone gate to the niter i got `jossled` by a dozen or so psycobillies, which i sidestepped and joined the queue. As youll remember the entry was recessed and packed with people, but from down the street it only looked like a few people, mainly young mods, were there so the psycobillies waded in. In an instant the creme of Leicesters football hooligans were out the door and on them, it was like a scene from some kung fu movie as they despatched them with clinical precission, amazing!!

Tink and Jayne Wilcoxson all got into rock climbing where all that skinnyness and footwork was put to good use, Rob still does the rock climbing and canoeing and is a fit as fook... Jimmy turned up at one of our all-niters last year and hadn't aged...barsteward... Tink still lives near Rugby (Lutterworth) and drops in sometimes. Jayne is now living with a poet and being a hippy with loads of kids... Jimmy & Rob then... Rob now... Jimmy now...
