pikeys dog Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Won an orange label copy on eBay the other day - still waiting for it to arrive so I'd like to know how you spot a boot from a real 'un? I've no reason to think that it's a boot - other than it was very cheap and it would be my lousy luck for it to be one. Here's the scan that was posted on the sale page:
pikeys dog Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 (edited) Nice one... just checked the description again and it states a delta number etched into runout (Delta Release < 69165/6 indead wax) which means it's prob kosher... Cheers. Edited May 6, 2007 by pikeys dog
John Elias Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 (edited) If that's the scan of the actual record you won then it has a moulded label onto vinyl and is a boot, soz. Edited May 6, 2007 by dancingcollector
Mark Bicknell Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I have the cartoon design but the orange one i thought was also authentic??? was it ever booted/pressed??? looks the same design as The Sunlovers - My Poor Heart, i'm sure JM or someone will confirm this but was this record ever big enough on the scene to boot anyway??? still a fantastic tune and i've seen the cartoon design listed for sale for a couple of hundred quid very recently.

Nick Hackett Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Bootlegged on a lookalike orange Pathway label. The Boot is vinyl with moulded label. There are 2 style original releases both styrene with stick on label. One has the multicoloured little man label design. One has the orange label which was copied for bootleg.
pikeys dog Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 yep got the label with the cartoon feller on (labels on wrong sides as most are) but was hoping to upgrade to the orange label on the cheap...

Here's the scan that was posted on the sale page: This is the New York counterfeit from the same pressing plant used for the Epitome Of Sound, Dave Newman, Anderson Bros, Timothy Wilson etc etc... note the ridge before the center hole. If this has a delta #, it would suggest some naughty person has scratched it in, using the info from the bootleg guide... would not be the first time. sorry to disappoint you john PS the ones with the "MAN" on are originals and tough to find with te label the correct way round.
