Remember taking a gamble on this and Charles Johnson both being highly recommended on the front page of a list from Melton Mowbray at a £1.00 each

Was the Charles Johnson Never Had A Love So Good?? Quid each

There doesn't appear to be many copies of Don't Tell Me You're Sorry for sale out there, I picked up mine for a tenner but it's taken me ages to track one down so was just wondering if it is tricky to get on a 7" or I've just been unlucky till now

Yes it was, at the time John was doing 6 new / recent releases for £5, or was it 5 for £6.00 !!

Anyhow, Charles Johnson and Chuck Cissell were two of them, I think Kumano was another. Will have to dig out some old lists.

How many copies did you have J.M. ??

Quite a few Charles Johnsons went to Shrewsbury Awake 502....... I even remember giving a copy away to a 60s diehard trying to broaden his horizons :fool:

Cheers Paul

PS "Right C.J. ?"

Chuck Cissel used to get played as an lp track at the early modern events.

Probably more Charles Johnsons in the uk than Chuck Cissels on a 45???

Chuck Cissel - A very underated artist, from the 'Just For You' Arista Lp I also recommend 'Do You Believe' and for me one of his highlights is ' Love Is Missing From Our Lives' originally to be found on the Dells V Dramatics LP.

Just awaiting the postie coming with a copy of his 2nd LP If I Had The Chance, any good tracks on that one other than the aforementioned Love Is Missing From Our Lives'??

A bloody hard record to find...one of the frustrations of dealing in records is finding 45s you know through experience are hard to find and then selling them for only £30.00!! I have probably not had 5 of these on 45 in 20 years looking for it...

Great tune.... I do have the LP for sale at £15....PM me if interested...

So it wasn't just bad luck then

Makes you wonder why it's never took off then, maybe just needs a big name to play it??

First heard Graham Slater spin this. Great 70's tune, should be played out more. Although not expensive not the easiest record to find.

Got mine a couple of years ago, £30 off Shifty.

list 66 was late 1978.. interesting to see how many have turn out to be rare after being listed as new releases. I can remember trying to re-order Charles Johnson after selling the a box of them not sure if it was 25 or 50 but we were told it had been deleted at the distributor..the rest is history

Chuck Cissell.. I've always loved that tune, yes it is difficuilt to find these days. Last copy we sold @ £30.... but we've only had 4 in the last 6 years..so looks like it's an under-valued 45.

Great memories of buying these records early 80's ( I found myself buying hundreds of records a month whilst , mates bought a dozen 60's records or less ) Chuck Cissel is one of Richard Searling's all time favorites I'm sure ? :shades:
