Guest vinylvixen Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 One of the perks of my job is getting stuff in advance and as my office is next to the mastering studio, I also get to fondle the master tapes etc. Now, Universal have put together a 2 CD set of the Dells and the sound quality is sensational (thanks to Gary Moore - Chief Sound Engineer @ Universal). Here's the running order: CD 1 Run for Cover Thinkin' About You There Is When I'm in Your Arms Higher and Higher Make Sure Believe Me Wear it on Our Face Stay in my Corner Does Anybody Know I'm Here Always together Oh What a Night I can sing a Rainbow A whiter shade of pale One less bell to answer It's all up to you The love we had I just don't know what to do with myself Just as long as we're in love Give your baby a standing ovation Closer CD2 I miss you Learning to love you was easy Strung out over you Bring back the love of yesterday We got to get our thing together I'll be waiting there for you Thank God you're my lady No way back Slow motion Our Love Could it be Private Property Don't trick me treat me You bring out the best in me Your song I touched a dream All about the papers Whatever turns you on I haven't got a release date for it but it must be sometime soon.........Jo

Sean Hampsey Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Wow... some compilation that with material from Chess, Mercury and 20th Century all on one slab... from the Grandfathers of Group Soul music. I played 'Closer' in the middle of the night at the last Soul Essence and the floor was in raptures! Also heard 'Don't Trick Me Treat Me' at some point during the weekend... another superb dancer. Can't fault these boys on Ballads either, can we. The Love We Had.... Always Together .... Standing Ovation.... I Touched a Dream... are all sublime. Pity about the shortage of ABC material on their though. I would have loved to have seen "Slipped, Tripped, Stumbled & Fell In" (possibly their finest hour) and "My Life Is So Wonderful" the superb uptempo fingersnapper! High quality release though. An essential purchase I'd have thought. Sean

Sean agree with that totally,my fav is the dells vs dramatics ,spun i miss you last night also, always does it for me,gave show me a few spins at soul or nothing and lowton and the floor went berserk, the voice of the main man can only be matched by a ruffin or a certain mr womack imho.
