Guest Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 This is from around spring 1978 and this must surely be the worst time for quality records in the history of the scene, I gave it 3 more months then just stopped going to Wigan, you can add to that lot the likes of Nita Rossi, Stella Starr, Tim Tam... hello pete, this was about the time circa 78/79ish i left the scene got married etc tunes as above plus stuff like the sharonettes going to a go go sort of peed me off, like an ian latrine but a mid 70s jobby reversal job, back to the awful muriel day i can only find two 45s released by this lady,1969,cbs 4115 the wages of love/thinking of you.and 1969,page one pof 151,optimistic fool/nine times out of ten..soulie55
Russ Vickers Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 No Russ, this predates all of those except Idle Few which booted in early 76 and Betty Boo which was played about 2 months after Muriel Day but the rest came the following year .............out of pure interest Pete.........did you write these things down, Im always in complete awe of you guys that can nail it to the month almost. Apologies for being misleading..............brain fuddled. Russ

Soulsmith Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 No it's cos I taped almost every Wigan I went to so I always had something to refer to! Ever thought of releasing/publishing them as playlists. Would be intersting & also resolve a few arguments. Might also start a few more, which would be even more interesting.

Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I can't tell you the year but i believe Muriel Day was first played out at Peterborough Wirrina back in the day more like 1975 or 76 and i am sure someone would clarify that.
Guest martyn Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 No Russ, this predates all of those except Idle Few which booted in early 76 and Betty Boo which was played about 2 months after Muriel Day but the rest came the following year Got to disagree there mate,Glen Bellamy played Murial Day at the 1977 EASC aniversary at The Wirrina (St Ives had been shut down),where as Betty Boo(the instrumental) was already big before St Ives shut (Ginger I think). Me ol' mate Martinsbox should be able to confirm-he's nearly a analy retentive with dates as me
