Guest Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Has the world of record collecting gone mad? On John Manships auction site on 30/12/2003 a "British" Tamla Motown demo copy was sold for, a wait for it £405.This must surely be a record!
Guest Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Didn't even have the promo sleeve that came with the 45.... Cheers, Joe.
Guest Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 Scary thing is, its not one person willing to pay that, some one else must have pushed the price up...
grant Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT MATE AS I AM SURE IT STARTED AT ABOUT £60 OR EVEN LESS. - STARTING PRICE IS ABOUT FAIR !
Guest Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Must be worth something to somebody. After all it is a British Tamla Motown original demo - albeit released about 20 years too late. Was it a red/white big 'A' demo like the 60s releases?
Guest Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 No! Looks like a normal 1979 issue with Demo Record Not For Sale acoss the pushout middle
Guest Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Well that makes it even more ridiculous - buying a demo that doesn't even have the aesthetic appeal of a demo! Should have saved up their money and bought a U.S. original - which reminds me, any new rumours about people finding numerous copies in the States? Or is Kenny Burrell's investment okay for now?!
