Guest Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) Was the Velores booted on the demo? All these tunes were purchased from the 70s / 80s and it it very kind of them to give them to me for nowt even if they could be boots! I think the Rubin is a real one but I have not looked at the other tunes properly yet (ie asked the experts) anyone got any ideas? GREAT to see a load of 45s in a cupboard instead of the usual CDs Edited April 23, 2007 by mossy
Dylan Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I had a copy of Bobby Long & Dealers "Gotta have love" Old Town from my dad. He collected in the 70s but sadly most of it was boots and reissues. There was a small clutch of good stuff but nothing that was worth mega bucks. TMG 512 by Hit Pack was the best UK piece.

And the Whiskey was even better!!!! A great night as always!!!! The nearest I got to a "free gift" was when my neighbour was given loads of early sixties UK pop 45's in mint condition and offered me a choice, but the ONLY one of any real interest was The Johnny Otis Show (featuring Marie Adams) "A Light Still Shines In My Window" (UK Capitol, 1959) which is superb R&B with a Doowop feel. I played it to death and just couldn't get the tune out of my head all summer! Great stuff.

Guest Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I was introduced to Northern by this very thing. A long long time ago ('76 ish) my sis's new boyfriend was horrified to hear I wasn't into music (only footy) The following week he gave me a black 7" record box with 50 Northern Soul singles. For weeks after he took away the ones I didn't really like and replaced them with others until i had 50 Northern tunes I loved. The rest is history. Bet I discsarded a few gems in those formative weeks though!
Guest Roccia Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 From me mum records collection, I picked up the Aretha Franklin version of "The Track Of My Tears" on italian Atlantic (pic sleeve). Great tune performed by a great voice. Could be an awesome ender...
Guest denmac Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 3 years ago i had to clear an aunts house who had died. in the cupboard under the record player i found a chess gold copy of rescue me and the lp groovin at the go-go. my cousin told me that she loved the music she heard at my wedding reception to denice. she asked at a local shop for a record of (that northern soul stuff).
