Guest Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 (edited) Has anyone got some historic information on this guy? I've googled but not really found anything interesting. Recently heard The Two Of Us and have fallen in love. https://www.thesoulgirl.com/music/Dave%20Ha...o%20Of%20Us.mp3 Edited April 19, 2007 by ♫ Soulgirl ♫
Guest Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 The CD I got this from has another very brief spoken intro where he talks about entering a competition with two entries, The Two Of Us is one, which would the other be?
Guest Ferrett Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) Yes, I love this too Soulgirl. It's on the Kent Dave Hamilton/Topper CD, so I presume Danny was from the Detroit area somewhere. Don't know if it's just me, but sounds white. According to the CD liner notes, the other track by him was called 'First Grade Teacher' and was a 'slightly corny pre-teen novelty song'. The CD suggests he may have changed his name after this audition, but who knows? If you like this, try 'Judy' by Frank Howard. Same kind of big production style and tempo - Beautiful! You've got taste girl!!! Ferrett Edited April 22, 2007 by Ferrett
Guest Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 There's an intro track on the CD I've got this on, and he mentions they're two songs for a compeition. Perhaps he did change his name which is why I can't find anything about him I'll try to find that other track you mention
Guest Stuart T Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 There's an intro track on the CD I've got this on, and he mentions they're two songs for a compeition. Perhaps he did change his name which is why I can't find anything about him I'll try to find that other track you mention I don't think that other track is available. As I remember it the sleeve notes recount how Danny was someone who walked in off the street for a competition and Dave Hamilton knew nothing more about him. So its quite possible that there is nothing else by him available anywhere. Which is a shame as the Two of Us is a fantastic record.
Guest REVILOT Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I agree - It is a superb song - great Detroit backing and an honest / believable delivery - I collect Detroit stuff and don't know anything else by him - will keep looking John
