Paul Peek - I'm moving uptown (and what a turd of a record this is! why is it here?)

Oliver Norman - Drowning in my own despair

The Appointments - I saw you there

Ray Pollard - This time

Jo Armstead - I feel an urge coming on

The Parliaments - Heart trouble

johnny gilliam baby take me back, don't think it mentions the title

Good example. I don't think Dry Well's "Gypsy" (Lauren) ever actually says "gypsy" at any point. Also (for the pedants) I seem to remember (in a way that is not reassuring) that Eugene Jefferson never uses the exact phrase "a pretty girl dressed in brown".

There must be - the one I heard in 1991 starts off with four solitary drum beats, and then goes into the "There's a girl I really want to meet". That was also on Ultra Class (yellow label).

Would be keen to know if there is another version of it. The one I've heard is a really messy production. I remember it for the line which sounds like "She's not skinny, she's not fat, she shaved my p***s, and I like that"! I've been advised he actually says "She's shaped like Venus", but I beg to differ!

May take you up on that if you don't mind - I'll play you the one I've got on tape in return (when I can find it). I always maintained that if it was a cleaner cut, then I would be more than happy to have one myself. Truth be told, it's still a good record!

Cheating slightly, but the title isn't mentioned in:

Jackie Lee "The shotgun and the duck" (Mirwood)

Norma Jenkins and the Dolls "The airplane song" (Maltese)

or the truly awful

Billy Watkins "The iceman" (Era)

OR (if you give the record its full title)

The Present "Many's the slip (twixt the cup and the lip or baby the world really turns)" (Philips)

I've got it on a white label test pressing. (Well, I would have, wouldn't I?) Maybe I was thinking of the other side, "How Come There's No Dog Day"?

Sorry for the faux pas, it was a four pinter, too much for me as lunchtime "Swift Halves" go

Must be worth something, considering the issues are fetching around £20 - £25 these days! Funny thing is, I'm sure "How Come There's No Dog Day" was originally the official A-side.

Does it count if it's the backing singers singing the title on the intro? Strictly speaking the first line of "Just like the weather" is: "The snow has ceased to fall...." Lots of others in this thread fall into that catagory, The backing singers start off singing the title, but when the singer actualy delivers the first line....

The awesome Jack Montgomery and his "Dear Beloved" Also his other top tune,"Do you believe it" although i cant make out if its actually "it" or "in" at the beginning. Oh well it doesnt matter just an excuse to listen to it and check it out. Marvellous voice and a fantastic middle bit with strings and girlies going mad.
