Pete Eccles Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Alphabetical is all well and good, if you wanna go straight to a particular 45, but what if you wanna play something of a similar style to whats playing but not sure what? if you get my drift? Alphabetically doesn't mean similar styles, and changing the contents of a playbox to suit a venue would be a nightmare to do in alphabetical order, just keep em in 'blocks' of styles/eras me,

Mike E Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I like your style.....thats "JAZZ PICK" system!! Yes, I go with this style, with what I definately want to play at right hand front of box.
Guest Bearsy Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I like your style.....thats "JAZZ PICK" system!! I kind of know where my tunes are in the box but when you think you know where it is but it aint there and you try and find it before the record playing ends and you just about manage it that alone gives me a buzz as i just cant plan a set in advance, i got an idea of some of the stuff i want to play but in what order or when or if is another thing so for me ad libbing is the only way I bought a smaller box so its easier to not lose tunes
Spacehopper Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 my filing system sounds complicated but i find it the quickest way to find a tune...especially if i change my mind at the last moment....i hate just grabbing any tune cos the playing record is ending....interupts the flow man ! my box has 3 rows...the first starts with maybe 20 rnb....then about 30 motown...then when playing go go children like friday, about 40 that have never been played there...we like to play a good ammount of 'new' tunes every month... the next row about 40 feamale vocal then vocal groups... the next row is all male vocals also those that are known as classic or overplayed top 500 tunes and are more likely to be requested tend to be together at the back of the rows...simple so i'll give you first 15 in row 2 and 3... im gonna hold on/ marlena mars...mgm demo ill try anything/dusty spingfield...phillips uk gimme back my love/paulette parker...duke too hot too hold/betty everett...vee-jay demo think a little sugar/barbara lewis...atlantic prove it everyday/shirley wahls...blue rock one in a million/rhetta hughs...columbia stop and get a hold of myself/gladys knight...maxx mamas got a bag of her owh/anna king...end suger lets shing a ling/shirley ellis...columbia with my love.../jean wells...calla lonely love/bettye swann...money i cant rest/fontella bass...checker much better off than ive ever been/ruby and the romantics...kapp loves like quicksand/sandy wynns...canterbury let me be your boy/wilson pickett..verve aint that true love/oscar toney jr...bell shes looking good/rodger collins..galaxy cant do without you/lee andrews...lost nite goodbye baby/bob brady...chariot love is the master/bob brady...chariot ive got to have your love/mill evans...constilation you sweet devil you/bobby joy...tangerine coming apart at the seams/andy butler...tangerine baby please come home/jj barnes...groovesville when love goes wrong/lou rawls...capitol talkin bout soul/marvin l sims ...revue demo i found joy/johnny moffett...caterbury how much pressure/rosco robinson..wand i need you baby/lewis clark...brent obviously as a playbox no boots
