So how does gemm work ?

Is the price you see on the screen + shipping what you pay ?

How much of this price does a seller get ?

Does ther seller pay the comission to gemm in a similar way as you do on ebay.

I'm a bit late to get on this one but i've recently ran a couple of searches and baught a couple of cheapies and one not so cheap. Was pleasently suprised by some of the stuff I found on there.... more later when it arrives :boxing::shades:

I'm not too sure what the seller gets from the original price.

However I have bought a few Items through GEMM no problem,

found Items on GEMM that I couldn't find readily elsewhere.

Very similar to Music Stack I suppose.

When searching with Music Stack It does give a list of Items currently available on ebay too.

Yes, the price on the screen and shipping is all you pay. I think sellers have to give Gemm 10% or so, so it can be better for both you and the seller to buy stuff directly from their websites, if they've got one of course. I shop at Gemm all the time, never had any problems with any seller.

i sell on gemm every day, there are various options a seller can choose but the bottom line is, what you see as the price when you buy is what you pay plus postage and packing as stated on the sellers gemm page. gemm does take a % of the sale price directly when the item is paid for, but not of the postage and packing cost. i often mail people if i know them, they are buying something 'expensive' or multiple items to let them know its cheaper to deal with me direct. all in all, i think gemm is easy to use, works well, and the feedback from gemm if there are any problems is very quick and you get a human mailing you not a machine. very few problems with them though, or any of the buyers or sellers, much prefer to ebay myself,

Thanks all I could have read all the gemm help screens but these short and to the point replys gave me exactly what I wanted.

I can see myself spening nearly as much time on gemm as I do on ebay.

I half expected some replys here saying its the buyer who foots extra costs and the seller gets a better deal but it seems exactly like ebay in that its the seller who looses a %.

Which is exactly how it sholuld be :thumbsup:

I sell on GEMM, you can set up various ways. The way i chose is to set the price i want, GEMM add their commission then take it off when a payment is made.

Certainly a cheaper option for both seller's and buyers

Check the feedback on dealers when buying first... some have bad feedback for posting off items....

I've made some real bargains on Gemm (Linda Jones on WB just can't live, Alice Clark on WB and Tropics on Topic for very little money for instance) however this was some time ago, think it has become a lot harder the last couple of years when more people have come to discover it.

Gemm is great and can be cheap but for collectors good to be able to find a record if you know it not on ebay as many times they have it's

Unlike Ebay that can list say 150 James Brown records at one time. Gemm can list something like 800 at ones not forgetting all other formats.

I like Gemm.

All my spare records get listed there (as long as they're playable). No fees and it's like having your own little record store. Since I list anything I come across I get a few surprises when seeing what actually sells. Good thing is that I can forget about the whole thing until I get an e-mail that says someone has bought something. Much easier than lists or ebay.
