Steve G Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 The Phantom Janitor link For sheer audacity The Del Capris "Hey little way out girl". Was I the only naive teenager in the whole wide world that was over the moon when I got the awful thing by the Del Capris, thinking it to be the Del Capris cover up? I am sure that one fooled a few other young hounds as well?

jocko Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Top Cat ! And anybody remeber RS Jimmy Georgetowns c/u ? link I do remember a Jimmy Georgetowns in name, thought that was the Shadows on USA for Withers so am obviously getting confused, please feel free to enlighten me!! Keeping on initial question another 2 are Al Johnson and Hit Men and also whatever Daybreak was (forget for now) had same title, more u think original post has a very good point!! Cheers Jock PS Steve, in answer to question you asked re Gary R on other post, havent spoken to him since he packed in ut but Dean Anderson still sees him every week to go and watch Man Utd, no obvious comments about they are obviously not from Manchester.

Got a white demo (amongst other things) off Bernie Golding in lieu of wages after DJing for him. As it was still covered I thought it was some crap thet Bernie was trying to fob me off with. He found 3/4 of them in Levines records he said. Don't know what happened to him but he was a very funny guy. Daybreak was Tyrone Edwards 'Search This World' And I always thought that Gary Rushbrooke was a Forest fan. Didn't he have a tattoo ? By the way, did the thread on Cody Marshall give any adea of rarity or value ? Steve
Paul R Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 For sheer audacity The Del Capris "Hey little way out girl". Was I the only naive teenager in the whole wide world that was over the moon when I got the awful thing by the Del Capris, thinking it to be the Del Capris cover up? I am sure that one fooled a few other young hounds as well? link Am I the only person that preferred Del Capris "Hey Little Girl" to the Batchelors sound-a-likes sometimes known as the Construction which I thought was awful. Each to his or her own eh! Talking about coverups and sheer audacity, what about Footsee by THE SOUNDS OF SOUL?. Not one of Soussans finest moments. Paul

By the way, did the thread on Cody Marshall give any adea of rarity or value ? Steve link Didnt remember it with Searling but thats no surprise as these were my early days. Bernie was an interesting guy to say the least, he also found 2 Shadows on the rare label (Golden Sounds?) in Levines collection, so a very rare record at that point and 5 copies, 2 on an unknown label all found at "bernies barn" in IL's collection. He invited me round to look at records a couple of times before I knew source and I never got round to it, realised my mistake years later when I heard the stories from Guy and Kebs visits! Well remembered re Daybreak, my memory wrong again Re Gary that rings bell re the footie but Dean meets up regularly these days, unless its one of Deans imaginary friends, which would not surprise me knowing Dean (No grassing me up on that comment Kitch or Byrnie!). Cheers Jock

Each to his or her own eh! Paul link OOH -Not fair. Still one of my fave blue eyed tunes from the Wig. One of the few I kept when I sold up first time round. And it's still got the tears round the edge of the label where the cover up sellotape was removed. Godz
Billywhizz Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 doing a cataloging at work on wigan sounds as its quiet after xmas it struck me how so many cover ups had the real title but made up group names... some great titles tho.. link Mark, my dearest friend, I know you are Wigan orientated, which in my opinion is a good thing. My first record I ever bought I paid 60p for, Freddie Jones, my head is wide open. I understand if you don't know it, on this list there is only 3 original djs from the casino who would know it. Possibly discovered it. Casino classic, the ball is in your court, shoot mate! Cheers Billy

Each to his or her own eh! Paul link OK, agreed tastes change with time (mine certainly has and I haven't played either record for over 20 years now), but...back in the day we were searching for those big Wigan sounds....and the Del Capris for a while was a must have for some of us. Nowadays, I wouldn't give you 50p for it, with original cover up sellotape on it or not.
