Guest Matt Male
Nothing better than a beautiful dancefloor You can have them at home thesedays.. https://www.harlequinfloors.com/uk/index.as...=2&page=474 If you look a little further into the site Harlequin even build a floor to a specific dance style. Amazing. https://www.harlequinfloors.com/uk/chooseaf...5§ion=2 Edited April 5, 2007 by Matt Male Link to comment Social source share
Dave Rimmer
Empress Ballroom At Mexborough? Bit Smaller than it used to be with the carpet etc... There's an Easter Special on this Sun with El Nel, Yoki etc so will try it out Interestingly, the Empress Ballroom would have gained it's name from the type of dancefloor it had, an Empress. Same as the Casino used to be called Wigan Empire, (Or Wigan Emp as my parents knew it!) because it had an Empire dancefloor. There was a third type but I'm blowed if I can remember it ! Guest MBarrett
Couple of years ago I was working at a large factory that closed down. They had a sprung dance floor in their social club. I was given the job of getting the best price for all the machinery/fixtures etc. It was only when the whole thing was done and dusted and the buildings put into mothballs that I remembered that floor and wondered if it would have had a value. Probably like a lot of things - more expensive to take it up and relay it than buy a new one. MB Link to comment Social source share
Guest sausalito
Is it Regent or Regency Dave? I suppose at one time nearly every town had an Empress, Empire, or Regency club, most of them have gone now though. Link to comment Social source share

Guest marge
100 club got a sprung dancefloor two loose boards near the right hand speaker. Billy too funny the Oddies in Leics used to have sprung based. I'd love a nighter to be held at Wobble in Brum (where they used to hold chicago house / 'underground disco' nites - or whatever it's called), the floor is so sprung based the whole building wobbles when the floor is packed (hence the name of the club).
