Guest Johnny Mack Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Pete Its a strange one for sure - I saw this myself and wondered if it was Canadian or something like that - pretty unique whatever it is ! I have a copy on the more normal red/white demo. The red/black issues seem to be harder than the red/white demos. The flip - "Wildcattin" is a pretty good funk tune too. Great instrumental. Take care John
Sebastian Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 It looks like a Vee Jay distributed Atlantic 45, which seems weird. Haven't seen one myself earlier. This Atlantic catalogue number is from about the same time as Jimmy Hughes only Atlantic 45, and he otherwise released 45s on Fame during this time (who often were distributed by Atlantic around this time, 1966/1967), but some of his Fame material appeared on his first LP which was issued on Vee Jay... There might be a link in there somewhere, but I'm just thinking out loud...
Sean Hampsey Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Never before Pete, but looks strangely like a Detroit pressing to me mate. Change the ATLANTIC header type to VIP or TAMLA and the rest of the typesetting would be spot on! Sean

Sean Agree with Sean here, though when I saw the pic it was Thelma that immediately sprang to mind....
Sunnysoul Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Weird Pete, just curious, has it got ZTSC in the run out ?

I agree with Sean ; When I saw the scan of the label , I immediately thought of VIP / Tamla .... Anything stamped in the deadwax to identify origin ? Malc Burton Edited April 3, 2007 by Malc Burton
45cellar Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) Weird As soon as I saw the --------------------Disk Jockey ------------------Advance Sample, ----------------------------------It reminded me of this one. Very similar, many Atco / Atlantic subsidiary Labels had a Similar Style. Certainly strange for the actual Atlantic Logo though. Edited April 3, 2007 by 45cellar
