New Breed Records........

A chicago soul label operating from 1966/67....

Label owned by main producer and A&R man Kenneth Wells......and a money partner.

May be one of the Master Key family of Labels(distributed locally by Master key records)

Clarence johnson and Eddie Sullivan were involved plus the main arranger johnny cameron.(as well as some of the other 'key masters')

Diane Cunninghams records were picked up by Mercury's subsiduary Fontana records in 1966.

ps

many thanks to Robb Klein for additional info...

There seem at least 4 other, unrelated, New Breed labels besides this one, though.

I'm still trying to establish exactly which ones are related, but one that definitely was not related to the Chicago one was a short-lived James Brown owned imprint that ran to just these two singles in 1966:

1101 - Dizzy Jones: Just As Sure/Why Me

1102 - Vicki Anderson: I Can't let You Go Parts 1 & 2

...More info about the others as I can confirm it.

BTW the Chicago New Breed label seems to have firstly had an original 500 series, but changed to a 100 series for the Diane Cunningham single that got picked up by Fontana.

Not the same label, I know of two 45's by this group and also Manship has an all green label design of 'Rosalind' on his site.
